Great mid century finds 10/4/2010

We have found many great items here to bling our home midcentury style. Charlotte does not have a great midcentury market so we appreciate this place. It can be a bit messy at times but hey that does not bother experienced treasure hunters. I visit about once a month and while some things are the same you have to keep a sharp eye for new things. Eclectic, funky retro cool and unique, this place is great for what it is. So put on your apple cap and your crushed velvet vest and check it out. more

I thought this plac closed 8/11/2009

I thought this place was going out of business.Everyone i talked to in the hood had nothing good to say about the owner but i reluctantly went back in hoping maybe this business got it together but was very disappointed in how it had gone further down hill. I was taken back by how filthy it was and after seeing a table with a thrift store price of $6 and the sales lady telling me she had to get $400 that was my final visit to this place and all the rumors i'm sure are not far from the truth The only good thing that came out of this was seeing a new vintage shop opened next door and it's very hip and now and organized worlds better than Century Dont see this place lasting much longer but buyers will feel more than welcome at the new vintage shop and the prices are in line with the market today I agree with Becky dont bother here Further more i even emailed my friend back in July to do a report about this place Cons: The same junk everytime more

This place is so yesterday 7/7/2009

Now that Hong Kong is next door i will never shop at this dive again. Cons: poor lighting, horrible prices more

This Place has the Coolest and best selection of Mid Century Stuff I've ever seen!! They have Clothing ,records, furniture and some really great Local Art. Everything from 50's Danish to 70's Funkadelic and and everything in between. I Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for fun mid century decor Pros: Great Selection of Mid Century Gems for Every Taste!! Cons: Can't think of any.... more

hammond organ got my attention 7/1/2009

Enjoyed listening to records on a vintage fisher price turntable. I was surprised that an old kids toy could actually sound pretty good. I have heard that they have pretty cool performances there sometimes. Glad I stopped in. Pros: not a record store, but tasty selection of LPs Cons: mostly furniture and clothes more

helpful, friendly, wide variety of authentic vintage goods! 7/1/2009

Swanky stuff but not stuffy or snobby. Prices on most of the furniture are not cheap, but neither is the merchandise. You do get what you pay for. I have never been to a shop that had a better selection of mid-century furniture in the southeast. On par with shops in New York and LA. Pros: sci fi paperbacks for 1$ Cons: antique piano for 35000$ ( just outta my budget) more

robsjohn-gibbings, paul frankl, lightolier, milo baughman!!! 6/30/2009

Was in there yesterday. Eclectic quality merchandise, fun atmosphere, and a warm and friendly owner that has been there since before the turn of the century. Not a huge selection of clothing but there was a 1928 flapper dress to die for. Pros: merchandise like you can buy on 1st Dibs for much less! Cons: can not think of any more

Good stuff 5/23/2009

This is a good place to go for mid century modern furnishings of reasonable quality, not the imitation cheap stuff. They can be a little pricey but everyone negotiates these days. They also have some cool pieces of art for sale. Check it out. Pros: Eclectic mix of items Cons: $$$ more

Dirty & Way Over Priced If You Want Dirt Go To Goodwill 2/28/2009

What is up with this place?I went in last year and scored some way cool stuff for under $30 and now it's like a totally different place. It stinks of dog and looks like it never gets cleaned.Lady if you want $200 for a dress upscale that dump.It must have been a dealer in there with all the good reasonable stuff for sale.People dont waste your time at this place.I had to find a place to wash my hands after i left Pros: I'll give it window display but it doesnt change often Cons: nothing was priced when i asked owner was rude and shot off insane prices, filthy, not dealers in there anymore,no more bird necklaces,i could go on but it this place is no Hong Kong thats for sure more

Century Vintage is the best in Charlotte for your cool duds and great furnishings! The staff will bend over backwards to set you up with a great deal and one of a kind stuff!!! Pros: You step back in time when you enter the door! Cons: Buy it when you see it or it's gone the next time you're there.... more
