Centro Ristorante & Bar

I've never had a good meal here. The last time I went there, I wanted something from their deli counter while sitting on the patio and they said absolutely not. Then the waiter did me the favor of checking with the chef who did me another favor of selling it to me at a higher price. So basically I had a small plate of marinated artichokes for about 10 dollars. I ordered chicken piccata with the spaghetti in the same sauce instead of butter and garlic. The waiter repeated back exactly what I wanted and then somebody else brought me chicken parmagiana. I told her it was the wrong dish and when I corrected her, she had very strong feelings about me having the spaghetti with the butter/garlic sauce and that's what she brought me. I don't know why it mattered to her, but apparently they like to decide what you're going to eat at this place. Pros: Beautiful atmosphere Cons: They dictate what you're going to eat more

We've been patrons of Centro for 10+ years. The adult bistro atmosphere has been eroded by an enormous increase in families with small children dining there...a change that has happened over the last couple of years. I suppose if you have young kids, its a good bet - as they can get pizza while grown ups enjoy good Italian and mediterranean fare. But "cozy" it ain't, at least not anymore. I love Centro's. It's my favorite restaurant in Fairfield. Why? Because in the summertime you can sit out on the the patio with the old fashoined lights and listen to a jazz band playing on the town green located 10 yards from the patio. In the winter you can sit inside the brightly decorated restaurant and use the crayons to draw a masterpiece on your tablecloth (paper of course). The food is interesting and delicious.
