Incredible hometown service 3/7/2009

I have taken my car to this store recently for various reasons and have always received friendly, honest, and extremely helpful service from both managers and mechanics. It is a smaller, privately owned shop and they really go above and beyond to make sure that you are a satisfied customer. They drove me to and from work while I left my car there and were honest when calling about what needed to be done to fix problems and just to maintain. The manager, Tom, told me honestly what I didn't need to be fixing right now and what was of timely consideration. I woudl recommend this store to anyone, it really has a personal hometown feel to it and I would never take my car anywhere else, especially chains or dealerships!! more

Totally un-professional and not trustworthy 2/23/2009

My wife's car broke down one morning and my wife took her car there because it's closest from my home. It was computer (PCM/ECM) problem. It took them 3 days to find that out, and they told us it will take a month to get the replacement part. I don't know where they are getting the part, but when I go on-line look for it and it only takes 3 days to get "re-built" one. I have also asked other auto mechanics I knew for years, and they all told me that it is very easy to get the part (since it's American made car). It seems they do not care how long it will take. Anyway, it is their call where they get the part they are using, but we could not wait a MONTH. So we told them I'm going to take it to other shop to fix faster. They said "fine", and then it took them 2 days to put it back together, and rolled out our car to very corner of the lot in opposite direction so it's harder to tow it way. After I took it to other shop, other shop found bunch of screws were missing. I went back to them to get those but they told me "if it's not there they were not there when it came" which is not true. And same guy later told me he did mentioned it to me over the phone when it was in... He never did it and I told him that. He called me a liar... what the hell!!!! If he told me, he shouldn't say "if it's not there......" And if I didn't ask them bunch of technical questions (I used to be an auto mechanic too) and let my wife to deal with them, they would charge for unnecessary works. I really really recommend people to stay way from this place!!! They are just crooks and liars. more

Inconsistent service. 7/14/2005

At Centreville Tire and Auto, they sell "MVP Cards" for $40. They include 3 free oil changes, 2 free state inspections and a number of other free and discounted services. I had my oil changed at this location for two years at this great price before I ran into a problem. I did't have enough cash on me to buy a new MVP card, but I needed an oil change, so I took my car to Walmart. It turns out that the last time Centreville Tire and Auto changed my oil, they put the filter on inccorrectly, and my tanks leaked several quarts of oil. The bottome line: good price, but keep an eye on them. more
