After we selected competively priced replacement carpet and pads for our family room and for our master bedroom/bath area, Mike ordered the carpets from two different major manufacturers. The first came as planned, but the second was delayed by the manufacturer. After awhile, Mike gave us the option of installing the carpet in the family room while we waited for the second carpet. We opted to do that. Within days, Mike and his helper installed the carpet and pad in the family room.
About a week later, the carpet for the master bedroom/bath area finally arrived. Mike and his helper removed the furniture and old carpet and pad, installed the new pad, and began to install the new carpet. Mike noticed that the backing on the new carpet was separating from the carpet. He immediately called the manufacturers representative and requested an independent inspector be sent to our home. The representative told him to go ahead and temporarily install the carpet and replace the furniture, so we could use the master bedroom/bath area until the replacement carpet arrived. Later that afternoon, the independent inspector arrived and concurred with Mike's assessment that there was a manufacturing defect. Although the temporaritly installed carpet looked and felt great, Mike told us that over time the separation problem would result in lumps under the carpet. The important point is that we would have not noticed any problem with the installed carpet, but Mike want to make sure we got the quality carpet for which we paid. A less honest person would have simply installed the carpet and left us with a pending problem.
Although Mike knew that his request for replacement of the defective carpet would complicate his schedule and interactions with the manufacturer, he did the right thing for his customer.
Even with the knowledge of the separating backing problem, the first two replacement carpets sent by the manufacturer were also defective and never got past Mike's warehouse. Finally, after about three months, Mike received, and he and his crew installed, carpet that was not defective (probably from a different run at the mill). Mike's persistance and our patience resulted in the carpet we desired.
We can recommend Mike and company without reservation for carpet and pad installation. We have already recommended him to our friends.
