Central Market-Customer Service Needs Improvement 11/8/2009

My young child recently wandered away from the grocery cart and I turned around and my child was gone. I immediately went to Customer Service and asked that my child be paged. I was told that the store "as a policy" was unable to assist me and I would need to "walk the store" to locate my young child. This was a Sunday afternoon when the store was at full capacity. Luckily for me, I eventually located my child. However, it does make you wonder about what could happen if the circumstances were different. Central Market needs to care a little bit more about the safety and security of their patrons and a little bit less about their image. more

Great Selection from Everything from Fresh Produce to Prepared Foods 3/29/2006

The prices are rather high, but Central Market is a huge store with everything a gourmet chef could want. The produce section is the first thing you see when you walk into the store. Central Market offers a wide selection of locally-grown produce, organic produce, and exotic produce. Freshly squeezed juices and precut/pre-washed vegetables are also available. Next you'll make your way through the meat and seafood area which again offer a large variety not found elsewhere. There are always several types of freshly ground sausages made at the store and, again, locally-produced (or least from this state) and organic varieties of meat and seafood are emphasized. There is wild game here, too - I've even seen rattlesnake meat here. Next, there is a sushi counter followed by the beer and wine area. Wines and beers are organized by country/region of origin. The health and beauty section offers a wide range of vitamins and supplements and natural skincare and hair care products. Then there is a section of the store with canned and dry goods which also offers some ethnic foods (as do all areas of the store). The bulk foods section, especially the spices, can be surprisingly cheap. I've found I can often get enough of a spice to refill the whole jar for less than a dollar. The frozen foods section has many organic and ethnic options. The bakery and cheese sections. I have tried the fresh-baked breads, tortillas, and breakfast pastries which have all been good. I've also ordered a couple of birthday cakes here - there are some delicious decadent dark chocolate cakes. Central Market offers cheeses from around the world, including goat's and sheep's milk cheeses. Next is the deli/prepared foods area. There is a salsa bar, a gelateria, a sandwich counter, a refrigerated section with sandwiches, salads, and pizzas, as well as the main deli counter which features a large selection of hot and cold foods. You can get everything from steak to potato salad here. Finally, the employees are very knowledgeable and happy to help. more

The breads are wonderful and the meat department so fresh . Also have a good selection of produce some of which is organic. Lots of cheeses and also a department of fresh exotic flowers. Go and See for yourself. You just won't believe it. more

Very Fresh! 10/21/2005

Central Market is a great place to shop if you are looking for fresh produce. There is a huge variety and you can even buy fresh ground flavored coffee, along with numerous oraganic goods. Don't feel like cooking? Just go to the food to go section and you can buy a sandwich at the deli, made the way you like it; or go to the salad bar and make yourself a salad to take out. more

spice & much much more... 9/27/2005

Cooking Curry tonight? no problem ,You'll find any of several vegetable substances, white pepper, black pepper, red pepper, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, mace, ginger, cloves, turmeric, thyme, coriander, sage, curry, caraway, saffron, cardamom, basil, oregano, salt, chili pepper, cumin, anise, paprika, cayenne... You name it they got it. You can find even catnip for your cat... I personally feels this place help me to achieve distinctive flavors and aromas for even any cooking needed for my family. I also like this place for its wide range of food selections from dry staple food-ready to serve sushi or roasted chicken. From tourist attraction to local delight. but most of their prices are steep for daily need items. more

Great selection, pricey though 8/28/2005

This is everything you could ever want under one roof. From caviar to fresh breads. They have a terrific beer and wine selection. Foods from all over the world. From Italian, Kosher, to Asian. Everything is fresh. They give samples of anything you would like to try. They have a great health/spa section of lotions and creams. The seafood and poultry section will make your mouth water. You will be starving once you leave this market. They also make fresh smoothies in their veggie section as well. If you are looking for fresh cut flowers (exotic ones as well) you can pick some up on your way to the registers. Their prices are a little steep, but you will find foods here you will not find at Kroger's or Albertsons. Specialty foods/wines. You won't be disappointed when you leave, but your pocketbook may be a little lighter. more

Central Market I think should be classified as a tourist attraction. I don't think there are many stores like this around. The variety is enormous and definitely upmarket. A bit on the expensive side but worth it for items that you cannot find in your local grocery store. Birthday cakes are delicious from here and beautifully designed. An enjoyable place just to walk around and see. Experience little bits from different cultures. more

Unbelievable selection 8/10/2005

When you walk in, you see the produce section, they have a ton of vegetables and fruits there, some exotic and hard to find ones too. If you want to try something, just ask one of the people working there, they will cut it up for you to try. Then you move on to their meat and seafood section, be sure to stop and taste their samples. They also have wild game in their freezer section as well as free range game. Then you will see a hot food section where they sell tamales and turkey legs, etc., and sometimes sushi too. Next you will see a big wine/alcohol section. Ask away, regardless of what you're looking for, they have knowledgable staff to answer your questions. Then to your left after that is their health/skincare section. Their stuff there is expensive, but buy them when they're on sale, they have pretty good prices. Okay, next you will come to their dried food section. That's the only place I could find real mint extract for cooking. And then after that their freezer section and their bulk food section with coffee and spices that you can pick and choose. You take a bag or a container and get however much you want. They also have fresh peanut butter, cashew butter, almond butter among other things. Then it's their dairy/juice section, followed by bakery, and then cheese section. Be sure to stop and try their freshly made tortillas. If you get there when they're making them, they sometimes will throw in extras for you. And then you will come to their food section where you can order deli meats, hot and cold foods. The final stop is of course the cashier. But before that if you're in the mood for flowers, they have them there too, as well as an ice cream bar. I love this place, it's like a food heaven! more

Great Market 8/2/2005

This is a great place to shop for fresh and whole food. They also have a great salad bar as well as great sandwiches. If you don't have time to cook dinner, just swing on by and pick something up for dinner. They also have a great bakery and tons and tons of different type of bread. Their chocolate cakes are delicious and you can't go wrong with any of their cakes. Their price tend to be higher than other market place. more
