I am in town for two-and-a-half weeks for the holidays, and since my previous gym membership is expired, I went to the Sportsplex gym; with a day rate of $5, how bad could it be? I got what I paid for: no bench press, no squat cage, no incline or decline bench, no barbells, no stretching area, and very, very cramped. This place has not been updated since it was built. It's hot in the room, the carpet is filthy, and the equipment is about to fall apart. If you're serious about your fitness, you can do much, much better. Oh, and the locker room is super old school, and not in an endearing way...at all. Pros: Cost, plenty of parking Cons: Equipment (i.e. lack thereof), atmosphere, locker room more

Best kept secret... 3/28/2007

The organization I work for paid for my membership and I was hesitant to go to a ""public"" gym and was holding out to find a club that worked for me. I decided to give Sportsplex a try and I'm glad that I did. The equipment could use a little updating, but if you just want a basic work-out and you don't want to wait for a treadmill, etc., then I highly recommend this place. Normal people there working out, not the parade of lip-sticked soccer moms in leotards and hulk-like men on the prowl. Low membership and very convenient. I can get in and out of there quickly and that encourages me to keep coming back. I hear the classes are quite good, as well. Pros: Convenient, no wait for equipment, not intimidating Cons: Needs some upgrading, better orientation system, not open on Sundays more

SOOO Nashville! 5/22/2003

I love Centennial Park...the Parthenon alone makes it worth the trip every time. I just wish people would stop the incessant littering. Pros: Location, Spacious grounds, Parthenon Cons: Litter more

Almost Perfect!? 9/1/2002

With the lake where you can feed the ducks, and the vintage plane and train, Centennial Park is like Nashville's Central Park. Go on a Saturday early afternoon. Sometimes there are people ""cruisen"" and the litter dont really match the ducks in the lake. But overall the parks ROCKS and its nice to take a date to eat a picnic lunch. They have alot of activities at the park too. But only every now and then... Pros: beautiful scenery, lots of parking, good location Cons: some play LOUD music, people litter in lake, lots of "cruisen" more

A thing of Beauty is Rare 8/8/2002

I must say that I have adored Centennial Park ever since the first time I laid eyes on it. I get a sense of peace whenever I'm near it. It is such a beautiful Park, that I have actually witnessed wedding ceremonies take place there. Its a great place for a walk, picnic and pictures. Be sure to check out the Parthenon while your there. That will really make you trip a two in one treat. Pros: good parking more
