In Short
The reef is a one-mile ridge running parallel to the shore. The better diving is right around an L-shaped plateau 400 yards offshore between Timber Cove and Stillwater Cove. The reef sides are nearly vertical, making for an excellent "flying" sensation. Look for abalone, bull kelp and bright encrusting sponges. There are good photos opportunities, but be aware it's a pretty hefty surface swim to get out there.
