Great food, great atmosphere! 12/5/2005

A pint of Smithwicks, chips and curry, and sticky toffee pudding to die for! What more could you want? The Celtic Knot is totally and comfortable, perfect for settling in for a long night of drinking and chatting. I have been at least a dozen times and except for cold chips one night, have never had anything less than excellent service and food. Liz, Patrick Deb and Jamie are awesome! Pros: great food, friendly waitstaff, cozy Cons: Small bar area more

Great Atmosphere & Outstanding Food 7/11/2005

If you want outstanding food - Shepherds Pie best than anywhere here or abroad, you have got to try this place. The Scottish Eggs were unbelievably good as was the sausage pasty and traditional chips and gravy. Decent beer selection as well! Can't wait to make a return visit. These people are friendly, courteous and glad you stopped in. Pros: Excellent Food, Great Atmosphere, Terrific Value Cons: No Pork Pies more

Great Addition 7/6/2005

Im so excited The Celtic Knot moved in to downtown Evanston. Since it has opened I have not been able to stay away. The entree's, and deserts are to die for, and if you are looking for something more on the go, the pub grub is perfect. The staff make you feel like family, exactly why I would recommend the Celtic Knot to my friends and Family. I just Love it. Pros: great food, freindly, helpful Cons: popular more

Warning: it's addictive... 7/6/2005

Friends and I stopped in for a quick bite, and have been weekly regulars ever since. The pub is adorable, and a pleasant reminder of past visits to Ireland, while the restaurant section is lovely (and a bit more formal). Guinness pints are perfectly built, and the food is fantastic! Go for dessert, or the recently added Scotch Eggs! Sunday Brunch will also leave you happily stuffed. We don't come back again and again just for the food though -- Celtic Knot proprietors Jamie and Deb are hard at work during the day, but never too busy to stop and chat. Everyone is fun and friendly, and for anyone missing the UK, there will be an accent or two to make you smile. It's a great pub to meet friends for a bite, a quick pint, or for a nice family dinner when the In-laws are in town! Pros: Fantastic food, Friendly Staff, Authentic Look & Feel more

a great little pub 6/26/2005

My friends and I have consistently had great food at the Celtic Knot, new spot in Evanston. Great selection of beers and wines from around the world, the best fish and chips around, and amazing desserts. Don't miss Gail's sticky toffee pudding. Pros: outside seating, lots of parking, live music more

Don't sit too long! 6/18/2005

A small group of colleagues and I thought we'd try the celtic knot one night after work to celebrate a co-worker's new job. BIG mistake! First, the hostess panicked when we told her there were 6 of us--asking if we had made a reservation (the restaurant was near empty at the time). She managed to put a couple of tables together and seat us, but then our server couldn't seem to get things right. After spending well over $100 on dinner and drinks, we were RUDELY asked to leave because the table was needed. NOTE: There were several empty tables remaining in the restaurant, including a table for 6. Forget this place...they don't have their act together! Pros: decent food Cons: poor service, rude staff more
