I went to Celadon around 11:00pm on a Saturday night with my girlfriend for drinks and was pretty disappointed with the service, overall. There were, at most, 5 other people in ...

Great service. Very Busy. 5/5/2007

REPOST: I'm new to this neighborhood and am enjoying trying all the new restaurants. This place was mentioned to me by a friend and it was so nice. I don't think we acknowledge enough of the great service we receive and our server (dark haired male, very busy) had a lot of knowledge, we needed a lot of help deciding. He made time for us even though it seemed he was a little stressed. He told us about some great items that were enjoyed by everyone in our party. I would absolutely tell others to go here for dinner. more

Order the short ribs... 4/17/2007

they are tender and delcious! You can't go wrong with awesome and attentive service, a cool atmosphere and, of course, tasty food! Pros: food, service, vibe Cons: limited street parking (tip: park at the grove and walk) more

Exceptional Atmosphere AND Service 3/18/2007

It was the first night of our Spring Break to Los Angeles and we had reservations here at Celadon. We arrived to a funky cool Buddha like atmosphere and were seated in the front dining room area. It's very dimly lit with candles lining the walls. Our waiter, Ho-Kwan had the best personality and he was extremely helpful. He was HALF the fun!! It's a tapa like menu and he told us that he would let us know if we were over ordering---so nice. We started with the ""Tuna Lollipops""--absolutely excellent--highly recommended! Then we had a spicy shrimp salad--also wonderful and very different. Then we had the duck---my boyfriend and I ate that very slowly bc it was FABULOUS!! After we were finished eating Ho-Kwan and a few other of the waiters wanted us to relax and stay as long as we wanted they even took us on a tour of the restaurant!! What a great place, we hung out in the private lounge for a while and just had the best time ever. Celadon was the best restaurant with the best food and best wait-staff that we went to in all 7 days!!! It's a MUST GO!! PLUS, the prices are totally reasonable for such amazing food--actually EXTREMELY reasonable for the quality of everything! Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

great food, fun atmosphere, new favorite 2/11/2007

I found Celadon on citysearch and decided to have my belated birthday dinner here with some friends last week. Let me tell you, the place is beautiful...and the food is amazing. The small plates are just that...small. Though we had to order quite a few plates in order to satisfy the five of us who were there, we still had a great time sampling all the dishes we ordered...which were finely executed and exquisitely presented. What I found more impressive were the cocktails...they were spectacular! We all ordered different cocktails and passed them around to share. ..so we got to try them all. That's what this place is all about: sharing great food and spirits with friends and having a good time. I recommend this place for groups, but be prepared to shelve out a bit more money for food because at around $12/plate, it's definately not an inexpensive place to dine at since you'll need at least 8 plates to feed enough for 4 people. Pros: food, ambience, service more

Absolutely awesome...See it now before it gets packed every night. 1/22/2007

Just so you know, this isn't some cheezy paid review...I F#%@ING hate those things! I honestly just love this place! Had an amazing night there last week. I found it by using CitySearch and took my girlfriend there for her Bday for one main reason...they have BEDS! It's was so much fun to kick back and eat dinner in bed like a picnic. They have tables too, of course, but we wanted to have a little dining adventure. The place is brand new with Japanese/Morrocan decor and an atmosphere that's chic and stylin, but stil cozy and inviting, which is tough to pull off. Candles everywhere. GO TO THEIR WEBSITE and you'll see. The service was the best I've had anywhere in L.A., seriously, it felt like home. The food was incredible! The prices are reasonable since you basically order $10-$15 plates that are made for everyone to share. You have to try the Vietnamese Shrimp Toasts. They were so good we got a second order of them. If you want a great night out at a restaurant just go! You'll be telling your friends about it later, promise. Pros: Beds! Great food, atmosphere and service more

Best Asian Fusion in Town 1/20/2007

I went to Celadon today, I believe this restaurant is One of the Best Asian Fusion Restaurant in town. I recommend Ahi Tuna Kochijan Spring Roll, Tuna Tartar, Snow Crab Salad and Scallop Valsamic-Strawberry. All these dishes are original receipes by a chief chef ( i heard from the manager) and I have never tasted before in other restaurants. I highly recommend Celadon for everybody who love Asian Fusion. Moreover, Deserts are pretty good. My recommendation is Creme Brulle. This resturant is much better in taste and orginality than Chaya in Beverly Hills, Becon in Culver City, Oriis in Sawtelle area, Asia de Cuba in West Hollywood. Prices are really resonable, I belive. I also recommend Sakura Breeze for cocktail. Pros: Good Atomosphere Cons: I did not see any cons today more

Unusual dishes and great atomsphere 1/19/2007

I organized a dinner with 12 friends and called a couple of days before and spoke with the host Michael. I got there early and spoke with Michael. He knew immediately recongized my name and said that they were ready for us and I was welcome to wait either at the table or at the bar. I thought it was interesting that he offered to let me sit at the table since alot of upscale restaurants won't even seat you unless your entire party is there. As the evening progressed and friends strolled in late, they were sent over to meet me in the bar and we were never rushed to get to our table and start dinner. Once we sat down we proceeded to order practically everything on the menu and often passing many of the dishes around tapa style (which is how the menu is actually setup). There wasn't a dish that anyone turned away for seconds, my personal favorite was the 5 Spice Duck and Foie Gras. I'm usually not a big fan of duck but this was prepared to perfection and thinking about it now makes me want to go back. We all had a great evening and even though there 12 of us the bill was extremely reasonable, I even had to remind the waitress that she should have automatically added 18% to the bill for gratuity. My pet peeve is that if the service is even near sub standard I won't eat at that place again, Celadon had excellent service, top quality food and drinks made to perfection made this one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in Los Angeles. Pros: Ambience, Service, Food, Drinks Cons: N/A more

An exciting new Place! 12/31/2006

Best customer service& Best Asian Fushion! 12/21/2006

I think it was used to be another restaurant a few months ago, and it is now known to be Celadon. My friend and I go shopping at the Grove very often, and we always try to find a good place to eat after our tiring shopping trips. We found this somewhat hidden restaurant right across from the Grove. The decoration is, of course, very stunning. The servers are very friendly and chill to talk to. What is more important is the food!! It is more of Asian Fushion. Please do order the salmon fried rice! and the salad! Sometimes the menu may have daily changes, so you may want to ask for recommendation. Also, definitely go for the dessert!! \r \r more

Great ambience, excellent service, delicious food! 12/18/2006

My friends and I visited Celadon about two weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The ambience was very warm and casual. We ended up staying for a couple of hours and we continued to receive top notch service and never once felt pressure from the staff. As for the food, it was all delicious! We had the Ahi Tuna Caprese, Vietnamese Sesame Shrimp Toasts, Tempura Creamy Spicy Shrimp Salad, Drunken Chicken and Szechuan Spicy Noodles (my favorites were the Shrimp Salad and and the Spicy Noodles). Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious! Their food is intended to be tapas style - small plates to be shared. The portions seemed small and I was initially worried that it wouldn't end up being enough food but in the end, the three of us ended up pretty full. This place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! more

great new restaurant 12/15/2006

food was really good, hope this place catches on. Much better than the last restaurant in this spot. Tartar lollipops, ribeye steak, and crispy noodles were excellent. Nice atmosphere. Super-friendly staff. Pros: food, atmosphere, service Cons: a little pricey more
