Cedarhurst

I chose not to have my wedding reception at Cedarhurst after meeting the owner. He was rude and impatient on the phone w/both myself and my fiance, not the kind of behavior one would expect from a business owner. The owner by his own admission stated ""I am very busy and have 3 jobs so don't expect to be able to get a hold of me, email works best"". We arrived at the mansion about 20 minutes early for our appt. and had to wait outside (in February) till he finally opened the door 20 minutes later. The dining room, foyer, bar, and study were all impeccable so it broke my heart that we had been treated so poorly. The owner even answered the door in a sweatsuit stating that it was his off-day. While we were waiting for him to open the door we had an opportunity to tour the outside of the property. There is a lovely rustic barn in the back yard but the area was littered with junk and it looked like it had been sitting there for awhile, I didn't investigate too closely but it appeared to be some old sinks. The exterior of the mansion had three broken windows and two visible wasp nest, one located right on the deck where ceremonies take place. All in all, a real disappointment. Brides beware. A lot of people of have been giving a lot of credit to the Cedarhurst Mansion when they shouldn't. It's a nice place, ""in pictures only."" I have to say that the dance floor is really small, considering how ""big"" this mansion is. The table setting, waitstaff was very unprofessional! I reviewed the last rating and yet that was 3 years ago, you would think that things would've gotten better, more organized and more professionally done, but nothing seems to have change. I've heard great things about Cedarhurst and was excited to go there for the first time for a wedding but was extremely disappointed by the service. The area was beautiful but the downfall was the unorganized and unprofessional staff. The wait staff changed into their uniform halfway through the cocktail hour, the bartender was still learning and kept referring to a guidebook on how to make drinks, and the dinner was served at random and the waiters refused to make any adjustments if needed. It just so happened that I am allergic to the seafood that was stuffed in the chicken. The manager replies to me well I didnt know you were allergic! and yells at one of the waiter to bring out the other dinner. They could use a little work on their table setting as well.
