My husband took me here for our wedding aniversery and on the whole I had a good time, but that was mainly because of our excellent waitress, Shelly (I think), who really was very attentive but not pushy. My husband and I chose to forgo the wine that night as we had drank a good deal of wine much earlier in the day and I had to drive us home. We had soft drinks which were refilled promptly and free of charge. It was like magic - the moment I started getting a little low on soda a new glass appeared, often before I even realized I needed a refill! The waitress gave us time to order and time to eat our appetizer, which was delicious. We ordered a sampler of some kind and highly recommend it. At most resteraunts the waitstaff try to push you in and out as soon as possible. The waitress here really wasn't like that at all - she let us look over the menu at our own pace, which I think really transitions an eating experience into a dining experience. And they bring you so much food! Potatoes, beans, salad, bread - everything you could possibly want. And all of it tasted wonderful - up to and until my husband's steak which was supposed to be well done but had the consistancy of cardboard and looked like it had been through a nuclear war. The worst part was the taste - literally it tasted like manure. I tried it and couldn't even swallow it. My husband only ate three bites before he gave up. We didn't want to complain so we just kept quiet about it, especially because the rest of the experience had been so great. I ordered ribs, which I felt were very fatty, tough and overcooked. I hope that their cook was just having a bad night or something because I want to go back sometime - the rest of the experience was that good. The only other things that bothered me was the noise level, and many of the customers although I know this doesn't reflect on the resteraunt in any way. I bothered to dress up a bit, as did my husband, and it seemed like a large majority of people dressed DOWN for the occasion. People were in flipflops, cutoffs and other beach attire, which mystified me since the nearest beach is 40 miles away. It is one thing to simply choose not to dress up and wear just something sort of nice. But torn up old jeans and what not just really make the atmosphere a little off. This were people who looked like they had money but just didn't care - I'm not talking about poor people here or people who can't afford a nice outfit or two. Just a lot of young kids who didn't care, it seemed, and it just wasn't right since the hosts and waitresses were pretty dressed up and proper. It is a good resteraunt, and I will go there again and do recommend it, but making reservations seems utterly pointless, as the hostesses make you wait anyway and often take other people to their table before you - they were really the only other bad side to the experience. Very rude. Another customer even ended up speaking up on my behalf when it seemed as though she was going to seat them before me, even though it was clear that we had been waiting (and bothered to make reservations just in case!). Her reply was rude and some of her fellow hostesses were equally rude. But I still think this is a great place to eat.
