Excellent 2/25/2007

Very nice experience. The restaurant is small but very tastefully appointed - you don't feel crowded at all. The meals were outstanding (I had seared sea scallops; my date the swordfish; we split mussels for an appetizer) and the staff attentive, friendly and helpful. Overall an enjoyable evening! Pros: Intimate setting, great food, helpful staff Cons: None more

No need to go to Boston 9/3/2006

Husband/wife team makes for a friendly atmosphere. Beautiful menu of seafood and fresh vegetables. Equal to any fine restaurant in Boston, but more pleasant. All-American wine list, with many hard-to-fine bottles. One of our best meals of the year. Pros: Fresh ingredients, great wine list, friendly service Cons: No bar more

Fantastic and creative seafood that never disappoints 6/27/2006

Catch is one of our favorite restaurants and because we live in Winchester we feel fortunate to have such a great place so close by. We have been going to Catch ever since it openned and never been disappointed. I do a lot of business entertaining and have taken many international business associates for dinner at Catch. Many of them that visit us on a very regualr basis always ask if we will take them to Catch whenever they are in town. The menu, as suggested by the name of the place, features mostly seafood but there are always a couple of non-seafood and a vegetarian entrees available. There are about 8 choices of appetizers and an equal number of entrees. THe crab cake appetizer is always good and I have never been disappointed with any of the entress I have tried. The sea scallops topped with small raviolis that have a braised short rib filling is one the restaurant's signatures dishes and never fails to please. The chef-owner and his wife go out of their way to make dining at their restaurant a pleasure. Although it is a small place it has a relaxed and casual atmosphere. The entire wait staff is very helpful in explaing each dish and offerring suggestions if asked. They have a nice wine list with a wide variety of choices and price points. The desserts are made at the restaurant and are generally very very good. The molten chocolate cake is a standout. I would reccommend reservations, espcially on the weekend but even early in the week the restaurant can be very busy. Pros: Delicious and varied seafood presented well. Big city creativity in the suburbs. Cons: Tough to get resrvations at times due to popularity more

A great find! 10/22/2005

This tiny little restaurant tucked into quaint Winchester Center is a real treasure! We love finding and trying new delicious places...and we keep coming back to CATCH. The food is absolutely delicious and always beautifully presented. The wine list is almost as good as the food---we've had some great bottles! The room is small and cozy. People seem to come from all over. It's not cheap but for those of you looking for high quality gourmet seafood...CATCH is a catch. Pros: delicious, good parking, presentation more

My Favorite 10/1/2005

Catch is one of the best-kept secrets of Boston. The menu changes every day and I'm always excited to see what's on the menu. The servers are attentive, the restaurant feels intimate and the food is always incredibly fresh and delicious. The wine list is incredible. I find the desserts to be mostly so-so, but the dessert menu has recently changed and I have yet to try any of the new ones. This place is a gem. Pros: great service, changing menu, fresh seafood more

Big Fish in a Small Town 7/23/2005

I have been completely blown away by the quality and precision each course contained... absolutely the best crab cake I have experienced and the scallop dish is to die for. ...add a very organized open kitchen and a casual local feel and you have perhaps the best hidden dinning spot in Boston. Pros: fresh flavors, chef owned, free parking Cons: hard to find more

WOW 2/20/2005

This has to be not only the best fish resturant in Winchester but may be the best in Massachusetts. Food is exceptional, Wine List extensive without being overpriced. Dishes are prepated to order and personal requirements met without fuss. The Chef enjoys comming out of the kitchen and talking to the guests. A special experience is meeting and talking to Megan who greets you at the door. All in All I would give it a A+++ without reservation Pros: Fresh Fish, Imaginative Preparati, Skilled Chef & Staff more

  • The Scene
Located in quiet downtown Winchester, Catch inhabits a prime spot on Church Street, the town's main drag. On most nights, an older, suburban crowd fills the intimate, sparsely decorated dining room's 40 seats to dine on the freshest seafood in town. (The menu changes constantly to reflect the day's catch.) Courteous waiters navigate the room, which is anchored by an open kitchen, while delivering selections from an all-American wine list.

    The Food
Catch's catches are prepared on the minimal side, allowing the freshness of Maine salmon and Chatham cod to take center stage. Starters include briny Wellfleet oysters (paired with a palate-pleasing tomato and cucumber relish) and a Maine crab salad served with a flavorful smattering of jicama, avocado, papaya and cilantro. Landlubbers aren't left stranded, thanks to worthy non-seafood selections like rosemary-basted chicken breast and savory corn and polenta soup. For dessert, share an order of cornmeal crepes with seasonal berries.
