A large Ski resort in the middle of the Berkshires. A very nice ride to the Ski area. Catamount has a nice lodge and a hotel. It has a double, triple, and a quad chairlift, also a handle tow. Many trails to choose from. The highest peak in Mass. is locted here. Night skiing is offered. Very pleasant place to ski on. Enjoy the winter. Pros: A large variety of trails. Cons: nothing more

  • The Lowdown
    With a 1,000-foot vertical drop and a trail topping off at two miles, Catamount offers a wealth of spots to improve your skiing and a ski school to make sure you do. Their 30-percent advance trail statistic is one of the highest in the state, but that doesn't mean beginners should be scared away. There are also 30-percent beginner and 40-percent intermediate trails that make it a great place to work your way up the skiing ladder.

    Family Values
    Unlike many Massachusetts ski areas, Catamount not only offers day care, but goes a step further with a great infant and toddler program and an all-day children's skiing program.

    What Else
    The area recently put in a snowboard megaplex complete with a 400-foot half pipe, lights and a pipe-dragon groomer. The ski shop offers on-slope repairs and tuning. Also, snowmaking was boosted to 96 percent terrain coverage.
