Competent, caring staff 3/21/2012

My husband and I have been clients of Catalina Pet Hospital since moving to Tucson in 2003. Because of our involvement with a local animal rescue, we have cared for close to 20 dogs in that time, and we have taken all of them here. There are even other facilities in town that are contracted with the rescue to see their animals at a huge discount (or even free), but we have chosen to pay whatever difference there might be to take the animals here. This is not to say that Catalina Pet Hospital is expensive! They charge a fair price for the best possible care available in Tucson, and they are willing to work with you if you can't afford their very reasonable charges. We have never experienced price gouging or upcharging, and as the "parents" of multiple geriatric dogs, we would have been prime targets.\r \r We have seen both Dr. Cohen (older male) and Dr. Maus (younger female). They are both very competent, caring vets who have helped us care for our aging pets and helped us take them to t more

Great vets and staff! 3/20/2012

All of the vets at Catalina Pet Hospital are awesome! They take the time to explain things thoroughly and are very gently with the animals. Dr. Eberhard was great about calling me in the evenings to talk about my older cats that were starting to have kidney failure. When the cats would no longer eat or drink no matter what I tried, Dr. Maus came to my house so that they could be put to sleep in familar surroundings with minimal anxiety. Sad, but those decisions are part of pet ownership and the Catalina vets were kind and generous the entire time. Dr. Cohen expertly diagnosed Valley Fever seeing my young cat just one time. The receptionists and staff are friendly and helpful too! I highly recommend Catalina Pet Hospital. more

Absolutely top of the line vets, with top of the line care. 5/23/2009

All of my cats have been cared for by all of the doctors at Catalina Pet Hospital, in particular, Dr. Buzz Cohen.\r \r Nice to be able to go someplace where you know the doctors and the entire staff care for your pet like their own. Thanks for being there! more

An Ex-Racing Greyhound's Top Pick! 6/30/2008

My greyhound, Alice, has been going to Catalina Pet Hospital for as long as she's been with me (2 years). Greyhounds can be pretty finicky when it comes to their body's physiological processes (anesthesia is particularly risky in greys), and physical make-up (Alice has pierced her own tongue, broken her tail, ripped out her toenails at least 4 times, sprained her toe, and tends to have muscular pain in one of her shoulders). Even with this 'lemon' of a dog, Dr. Maus understands all the quirks of being an ex-racing greyhound, and addresses all of my concerns without over-diagnosing any of Alice's mishaps. Generic brands of doggie pills are always offered, the front desk staff will make every effort to accommodate your busy schedule, and there are two other veterinarians present (so it's easy to get a quick second opinion, if needed). And, of course, Alice is put into a curious trance every time the resident kitty makes her pass! more
