Rude staff 5/25/2010

We wanted to order brunch a-la-carte but it turned out that was unavailable after 10am. We even asked to look at the brunch menu the afternoon and before they showed us an a-la-carte menu. Instead they offered a 3 course $60 prix fix which was too much food and too expensive. We had to explain this to 3 different wait staff until they told us that ordering a-la-carte was not possible. We could only order from the bar menu of sandwiches and burgers which wasn't ideal but we decided to stick with it. The wait staff from that point were so rude to us. They ignored us for 15 minutes. The waiters took the orders of the two parties that sat to the left and to the right of our table while we sat there (these 2 parties sat down WAY after we sat down). So we got up and left, voiced our displeasure to the hostess and ordered a taxi to the train station. Never even had a chance to try their food, but I would avoid this restaurant because their service was horrendous. Pros: Nice location Cons: Rude staff, expensive prix fixe brunch menu more

A Perfect Romantic Get-away 2/16/2003

Wow!.. That's the best way to describe this place. It's totally amazing!!! Everything is done with class and elegance. Nothing is cheesy. This is a 5 star hotel/restaurant. If you want to get out of NY for a quick romantic getaway that not's too far, stay at the Castle. You couldn't impress your Lady anymore. Take her away to the Castle. It's pricey.. but oh, so worth it!!! Pros: elegant, great food, terrific rooms Cons: expensive more

    Don't be surprised if this tower looks familiar--it's a dead ringer for the fortress in the Mel Gibson movie "Braveheart." But contrary to appearances, the building and grounds have never served as a movie backdrop. Perched high on a hill along the banks of the Hudson River, they are home to the award-winning Equus restaurant, under the direction of new chef David Haviland. Wine dinners with a seven-course tasting menu are offered sporadically.

    The Details
    Elegant, customized touches can be found throughout the castle, such as the tapestries in the lobby and the warm yellow light that emanates from the ornate wall sconces. In both the guest rooms and the suites, generous swirls of fabric make interiors seem cozy and grand at the same time. If it weren't for the outdoor pool and tennis court, as well as the absence of castle-like drafts and damsels wandering the halls, you'd swear this was the real thing.
