Just went there this weekend with my wife and daughter. Told the waitress I would be using my Entertainment card (basically 8-12 off w/ a purchase of a meal with another purchase)...

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/1/2012

Went last night for all you can eat crap legs. WOW.. yum yum and yum.. then the chef personally came out and asked us if we'd like to try his vegetable soup he had just made. We both said sure and we both said after tasting it.. WOW!!! that is some really delicious soup. more

AWESOME PLACE! 2/24/2012

I don't know what these people are talking about, I have only been to this place a few times, and I LOVED IT! As you can tell from my user name, I am a picky eater. I eat out at a sit down restaurant a minimum of 2 times a week (too busy to cook at home). I have eaten at 5 star restaurants all around the world and I love this place. Right on the water, great view (except for the 81 overpass) and great service. The first time I went to this place was summer of '08-then I could agree with the other reviewer that the salad bar was pretty bland, but I made a suggestion and the last couple times I have been there it was much better. The menu offers a lot, but not a lot of vegetarian if you are into that sort of thing, and I will warn, some stuff is seasonal (like the chili) even though it doesn't say it on the menu. Was kind of bummed when I ordered it last summer and they told me they didn't have any. First two times at this place was summer and it was packed-the waitresses were a little frazzled and the wait was understandably longer than usual, but if you can't enjoy the view while you are waiting, then stay home. When I went last weekend it was empty-I asked the waitress why, and she said most people tell her they didn't even know the place is open in the winter. I was with a party of 11 people, most ordered the buffet and every one of them loved it. As I am a picky eater, I got seafood, lobster tail, scallops, crab legs, yum! It was cooked EXACTLY the way I asked-scallops broiled with garlic, parsley and a splash of wine, and a pinch of old bay seasoning on my lobster tail (which is not the way they normally do it) the chef did an amazing job! I love places that accommodate!!! Waitress was incredible, could tell she had been doing it for years, she was working the restaurant, bar, and some event in the front banquet room-not a huge amount of people, but definitely a lot of space to cover, I couldn't do it! Can't wait till summer comes, I will absolutely be coming back to this place again! more

Great view of the boats 5/15/2010

We stopped here to watch the boats and eat. It had been a while since we had eaten here. My wife had fish and I had a steak. The view was great. The only downside was the food was a little slow coming out due to the large crowd. Will defiantly go back when we get a chance. Good going on the new chef. By the way - the soup on the salad bar was exceptional. Pros: New chef - food was great - the outdoor view even better Cons: food was slow due to the place being packed that night more

Terrible Service 2/17/2010

Just went there this weekend with my wife and daughter. Told the waitress I would be using my Entertainment card (basically 8-12 off w/ a purchase of a meal with another purchase). Waitress told me the Entertainment Book Company printed this without their approval, and they did not honor it. Fine, whatever, salad bar sucked, meal was okay. Get the bill and they added an extra $10, the mathematically-impaired waitress corrected it, I was pissed but my wife said lets just go. She calls the next day, the manager/owner says they do take the Entertainment card. No offers, refund anything except I hope you will come back again some time soon. So basically the screw me out of $20 dollars or so. I would not recommend this place to anyone, I should have known on a Saturday night with about 10 people in the place what to expect. A waste of $70. I'm really surprised they are in business. Pros: Food was edible Cons: Service, honesty. more

Don't Waste Your Time Or Money 6/18/2008

My husband and I had only been to the Castaways for wedding receptions. They were running a ""Buy One, Get One"" on Tuesday night which excluded any lobster dishes, all you can eat crab legs and frog legs. My husband ordered a stuffed chicken dish and I ordered the nightly special of a sizzling steak platter (Delmonico). I told the waitress I wanted the steak rare, that I used to order medium rare but they always come too well done. The soup and salad bar was included with our meals. The salad was nothing to brag about, but the homemade chicken soup was good ... a lot of broth and carrots, some potatoes, some celery and some chicken. (My husband spotted the chicken bone before he put it in his mouth.) When our meals came, my husband was very disappointed with the canned green beans floating in some sort of sauce. His chicken was very well done but he said it was good. My steak was a very large cut but was cooked medium well at best. Since it was not a particularly thin cut of meat, it should have been able to be cooked properly. I am very fearful of sending things back in a restaurant, so when the waitress asked if there was something wrong with my steak I told her the chef (and I use the term loosely) obviously didn't understand what rare meant and I would just take it home to the dog. She was apologetic but made no offer of trying to make things better. I was offered a refill of my iced tea when it was about 3/4 empty, but my husband was never offered when his glass sat empty. We arrived just before 5:30 and were the first couple in. (That should have been a good indication on a 2-for-1 night a half hour after opening.) Maybe 10-12 more people arrived while we were there. Would I recommend this place? Never. Even at roughly half price, it was a waste of money both for the food and the gas to get there. For a local restaurant, you're better off going to DG's. Or if you really want a good steak cooked properly, drive the extra few miles and go to the Outback. Pros: No wait for seating Cons: Too many to mention more
