This is a tourist trap!!! 8/20/2011

I don't know who has been writing these great reviews. The best I can say is the place is kid friendly. The food is so-so at best, and both the food and ice cream is overpriced. It is strictly a tourist trap in my book. I ordered their 1/2LB Bacon BBQ burger at $9 and a vanilla Malt at $4.25. My wife ordered a Chicken Panini (toasted pita-like bread) also $9. The malt came in a clear plastic cup about the size of a MC-D or BG shake (which are half the price). There was no malt flavor. The food took a 1/2 hour to get to our table even though there were only a few other customers eating. The burger had one slice of bacon on top of two ""1/4LB"" patties, a slice of American cheese, and a few teaspoons of very bland ""BBQ sauce. The meat looked like it had been shaped using a drill press and tasted like it had been pre-cooked then reheated. It was grey and dry as could be. The small handful of fries were floppy and about as wide as canned shoestring potatoes. Both the burger and fries were crowded into a small cardboard box topped with a paper napkin. Instead of the Chicken Panini my wife ordered, she received beef Panini. She doesn't like to fuss so she kept it. The beef was like beef jerky...dehydrated little strands of stringy, dried beef. The bread was over crisp to the point of being like those small pretzel sticks. Along with the meal my wife had a ""Groucho Marks"" sundae at $5.25. It was a small goblet with two scoops of ice cream and wet walnuts. It was good but again overpriced. The facility itself is no way ""old fashion"". It burned down in 1975 and was rebuild to have a quaint charm but after the years it now misses the mark. The deco seems forced, tables small, chairs unconformable, and the dining area was not clean. The staff would clean tables only after new customers arrived. Bottom line - Unless you just have to hit all of the tourist traps, avoid this place - You can get better burgers at MC-Ds or BK at half the price and get good home cooking elsewhere. more
