I beleive that Casa Prac, Inc. used to be an organization where those in need could go for help regardless of ethinicity. I no longer believe this to be true.\r
\r
The Agency is no longer there to serve the community but to serve themselves. They no longer employ Afro-Americans or Caucasians because it is the belief of the Board President Harold Lugo Gonzalez that the Agency was established by Puerto Ricans and should remain that way.\r
\r
It is sad that the parking lot is empty on a daily basis because when clients do go to Casa Prac, Inc seeking assistance there is never any funding available. It's not what you know but more of who you know.\r
\r
This is my personal opinion and those of the many clients I have spoken to.\r
\r
Instead of increasing services or programs they have been decreased. I did recently see an article (New Leader New Vision)in the Daily Journal where the ""Director"" of Casa Prac, Inc. states that there are such a substantial amount of teens getting pregnant and this problem has been ongoing, that without sufficient funds the problem can not be addressed.\r
\r
However, duplication of service does not correct the problem and there are other agencies more qualified to deal with this problem such as Fam Care, MLK Academy and the local Community Health Care Clinics who have a proven track record in serving this population.\r
\r
I beleive that the Community as a whole should be aware of this dilemma we are currently encountering at this ""Hispanic"" NON-Profit Agency.
