poor managment 5/1/2011

I went to use the restroom and went through the wrong door to find a heavy set man using crack/cocaine in the kitchen where the food was being prepared.I asked to speak to the manager to adreess wehat I had saw and it turned out that the heavy set man I caught red handed with the lighter to his pipe was the manager,I was then screamed at as if I did something wrong and told if I didnt leave that the cops would be called on me. more

Horrible 12/1/2010

First of all that red salsa was watery and too spicey I guess they do that on purpose so you can buy more drinks. The food that my husband and I had was horrible, they gave him a dish that he didn't even order and when he mentioned it to them they refused to replace the meal. The dish they brought me was some sort of paella which was seafood with rice, the seafood was so chewy I almost choked on a shrimp. On top of all this they barely knew english if they did they would not have messed up his order. Then after this experience the waiter tried to make it up to us with a free cheese cake but even that was dry. more

Great food and great service! 7/4/2009

As a vegetarian who loves Mexican food, it is hard to find a restaurant that offers good options in Bay Ridge, however, at Casa Pepe I did! The first time I was there, I was greeted by the friendly staff, who suggested a nice guacamole to start, which by the way was made table side. Then, for main course, the server described a delicious, mouth watering meatless burrito. I loved the food and the mango margaritas as much as the delicious flan I had for dessert. Casa Pepe has become my favorite place. Every time I can, I cross the Verrazano to go there. Pros: Many choices for vegetarians. Cons: Dishes are huge. more

My favorite Brooklyn restaurant 7/3/2009

Love the place; I go at least once a week. The Guacamole is made tableside, just to my liking. amazing margaritas and sangria. I always recommend the Paella and the pork chops. If it’s a nice day, be sure to sit in the outside garden! Pros: Guacamole, Margaritas, outdoor garden more

Don't try 8/9/2007

Thought I would try out a new place-no way!!! I had reservations, they were lost! The sangria was ok...It was a super long wait for the food and the staff weren't realyl attentive. If you want real authentic Spanish food go to Sanchos. So much better and I am greeted each time by the owner, who couldn't be nicer. Even if there is a wait, you can sit at the bar and they are all really friendly-great QUICK service and tasty food. more

Great customer service, extensive menus, delicious food 12/29/2006

I've been to Casa Pepe many times in the past two months. I usually sit at the bar. On Mon.-Thurs. there's a Cantina Menu (at the bar). The Quesadillas del Mar are delicious. On the dinner menu, I've had the Shrimp Fajitas and the Salmon del Diablo -- both excellent. The Sopa de Mariscos and Fried Calamari are good starters. The bartender, Angel, is very welcoming/friendly and makes great Sangria (white or red). On Christmas Eve, I brought a party of six (relatives from out of town). We sat in the Garden Room next to the woodstove...very dark but romantic. Everyone was delighted with the food -- appetizers, drinks, main courses. Our waiter was Patricio and the service was excellent. They have brunch on Sundays from 12 - 4. I just feel very comfortable at Casa Pepe. Pros: excellent customer service, great food more

It was nice 6/2/2006

Needs to improve and make it more modern. Starting to look old and not taken care of. The place is nice to go to but you can always improve. The food is good and the drinks are OK but on the expensive side. Oh yeah, It took a long time to find parking! Pros: food, drinks, area Cons: parking, parking, decor more

Enjoyable, but not stellar 8/25/2005

The place was nice and my girlfriend and I definately enjoyed ourselves - but weren't blown away. There was a private party in the garden, which I'm told is rare, so the only tables for 2 were in the main room, it was so dark we could barely read the menu, but it was nice and kind of romantic. The abience is very nice. My girlfriend had a margarita she said was ok, and I had a soda that somehow tasted terrible, like the line was dirty. The chips were tasty...the steak and chicken fajitahs were good, a bit too much sauce on the meat for my taste. The other dish was arroz con pollo, the chicken was delicions and the rice was a greasy but good. The bill was low 50's, pricey for what we got. I had a good time and would go back, but won't rush to. Pros: friendly service, good food Cons: tad pricey, very dark table more

3 1/2 hours for dinner? 5/16/2005

I went to Casa Pepe on Saturday with a group of 8. First, our reservation was ""lost"" ... but they were nice about it and got us a table within 20 minutes. I would like to say it was wonderful from there, but the truth is that the service was HORRIBLE. We waited forever to get our order taken. We waited FOREVER for the food. We even waited forever for coffee! We got at the restaurant at 8:00 and left at 11:30. Ridiculous! I would recommend this restaurant only if you have extreme patience or if you're someone who can keep on top of servers to make sure things arrive quickly. If you can deal with that, then definitely go there - the food, while overshadowed by the terrible service, was outstanding. Our table gave rave reviews to the paella, steak, ribs and the beef chimichangas. Pros: Delicious food Cons: Horrible service more

A Big Dissapointment 4/16/2005

With so many great reviews, we expected a sure thing. But, after an hour and a half of frustration - Arrived at 8:00, with a reservation, waited 30 minutes. - Two margaritas, one frozen & one on the rocks. They were pre-made, laced with sour mix (first sign of a bad margarita), and weak. - Finally seated in the garden room. Tried the sangria, it was ok. - Seated for one hour, no appetizers, no water, no drink refills. - The inept service waiter brought our appetizers to the table next to us. He wandered aimlessly, asking who ordered what. - All the couples around us, who were seated after us, received their appetizers, but we were somehow forgotten. - It was now 9:30, we were starving and pissed. We just walked out, they never noticed. - Thanks for ruining our Saturday night; you just lost two would-have-been loyal customers. Pros: Impressive ambiance Cons: Poor service, Innatentive waiters, Weak drinks more

Simply Delicious!!! 11/8/2003

I visited Casa Pepe last week and I couldnt be more impressed. The bar staff was very attentive and professional, and the drinks were perfect. I requested the romantic indoor garden dinning room and was seated right next to the roaring fireplace. The staff was courteous and explained the menu with detail. The appetizers were amazing, and the main course was delicious. My wife and I enjoyed our experience and we will definitely be returning in the near future. Casa Pepe is unquestionably the best restaurant in the Bay Ridge area. Pros: great food, perfect drinks, attentive staff more
