The couple opened their first store in downtown St. Augustine and it was called Ancient City Jewelry and Coin. After four years the Carter's decided to take a more refined approach to their business. That was when "Carter's Jewelry" was born and at the same time, the location changed. Over the years, the business has evolved from a coin shop to a small by-appointment-only store and finally on to a fine jewelry retail establishment.
