So, I needed some work done on my Cadillac CTS. My warranty is up so I got online searching for a mechanic with great reviews that would not rip me off. I found Cartec. Called them.. Told him my boyfriend ran a diagnostic on my car.. told him the problem.. said he didn't know what was wrong until he saw my car. Which was fine. I expected that. I take my car in.. explain to Kyle that I need a tune up, asked the price.. he didn't know. Told him I needed an oil change, and to fix the issues with my car... Which online the diagnostic code indicated one of the cylinders on my CTS was misfiring. I told him not to do any work on my car until he spoke with me just to make sure I could afford it. He calls me a few hours later and lets me know that with oil change he had already done before calling me like I asked him to, it would be 342. The 342 included my oil change he did.. (without calling me as I asked) and 300 just to take a look. I find this amusing because the 300 was for TAKING A LOOK, not fixing anything on my car... Are you serious? I said, well do you have an estimate of how much this will cost me AFTER the looksee? He said no. Absolutely no idea... I mean.. I needed something... he gave me nothing.. no price for even a tune up. He said that he needed to remove my upper intake to do further testing. Well, that completely sounded VERY untrustworthy. So, I went and picked up my car. We got there and I paid for the oil change and left. On the paper he gave me there was a list of things they do when giving you an oil change.. None of which was done. all my fluids were low and my tires were low as well. I'm not sure I'm completely convinced they even changed my oil. So, this leads me to believe that who even knows all these reviews online about Cartec being such a great place to get your car fixed are even real? seems like crooks to me. The best part of this story is.. after I left I took my car to Firestone on 61st and lewis.. they completed this ""further testing"" for free. Oh because thats what you're supposed to do. Tell me whats wrong with my car and give me a quote, not charge me $300 for seeing whats wrong with it. Completely disgusting.
