Editorial review from Citysearch 7/14/2014

I'm amazed at the negative reviews for CWPH at this site! In fact, I tend to believe there is something ""fishy"" about them, because Dr. VanAntwerp's caring expertise has been flawless over the years I've been taking my dogs there. If the front staff is very busy, they don't have time to be social, but otherwise they clearly love all the pets coming & going. Dr. ""V"" is the most thorough & caring vet I've ever known - and I'm not young, so there have been many. You get what you pay for, as the saying goes, & what I want is the very best for my dogs, period. more

Dr. Morris is my favorite vet here 9/29/2011

I have been taking my pets here for years and am extremely loyal to Dr. Morris. She is a kind, caring vet who takes her time, is never too busy to answer questions and also refers to specialists if she feels that would be a better option. Over the years we have had quite a few illnesses to deal with, some serious, and she has always come through. I cannot say enough good things about her. more

Dr. Van Antwerp is the best! 3/19/2011

This review is for Carrollton West Pet Hospital and specifically Dr. Linda Van Antwerp. She is an excellent doctor who I have been seeing for all of my pets for many years. She is very caring and completely capable. She always helps me to understand where my pet is in his or her illness. Since most of my pets live a long life, I can say that she has been a big part of keeping them healthy. Her staff at the front desk is also great. On our homeowners association website and list serve she is always highly recommended. We agree - She is excellent! more

Dr VanAntwerp is Fabulous and so Is CWPH!!!! 3/1/2011

I would like to review Carrollton West Pet Hospital and specifically Dr Lynda VanAntwerp..though all the doctors and techs are wonderful..I have been part of this vet clinic for 25 years and many animals. I originally used the previous owner but when Dr VanAntwerp joined the clinic I used her and still do exclusively. I live in another town and could easily use another clinic but my animals are my only children and they deserve the BEST! I currently have had my Maltese for 13 years,,about 4 years ago he got a rare and potentially fatal disease called IMHA, this clinic and especially Dr V went way out of their way for me and Alfie! The gal at the desk took Alfie to the emergency room so he could be treated as I was at work and he needed a blood transfusion immediately upon arrival! It took over a year of very careful treatment but today he is happy and healthy and I am so grateful. Bedside Manner? Are you kidding? This vet Dr V would come to my house if I needed her to, explains things more

Previous employee Dont see Dr. V 2/7/2011

As a former employee I would like to say Dr. VanAntwerp is NOT a good doctor and her staff knows this. DR. ASHLEY CHAMPAGNE, LEIGH ANNE MORRIS and ANNA OSOFSKY are wonderful doctors and care a lot about every one of their patients. Please do not allow Dr. Lynda VanAntwerp reflect your opinions on the staff as a whole. The technicians work hard to make sure all patients are well cared for. They pay close attention to all animals under Lynda VanAntwerps care and try to influence her to give them the proper care. By all means I suggested NO ONE use Dr. VanAntwerp as a vet by any means, BUT the other doctors and the technicians are an amazing group of women. Dr. Champagne is a very smart and caring women she is and will always be my doctor.\r Please report her if you feel she did not treat your animal properly or she will just keep doing it to people that just dont see it. more

Dr Champagne - GREAT! 12/27/2010

I agree completely with the negative comments made about Dr Van Antwerp - if she is all thats available to see one of my three dogs, I will wait. Her communication skills are awful.\r \r Dr Champagne on the other hand is just AWESOME. We have one dog that has many fatty tumors, she has taken the time to chart every single one of them and checks him over thoroughly on each visit. She listens, she recommends several options and cares about our pets. I've also had good experiences with Dr Morris on a limited basis. more

Dr. VanAntwerp, awful Veterinarian 11/12/2010

A few years ago I moved here to the Carrollton area and needed a Veterinarian for my puppy dog, whom is an essential part of my familys day to day life. Because of the location and how close I was to this clinic, I chose to go to Carrollton West. My only hope is that the opions I provide here better enable other consumers to make a choice smarter than the one I made. \r \r Dr. VanAntwerp is a terrible doctor. Every single time I was in her office I have had awful expiriences and have left feeling extremely confused about the status and well-being of my pet. In speaking with several of my girlfriends in the area that use Carrollton West, I had discovered they had all had the same concerns and were all very dissapointed in the bedside manner, and the professionalism (or lack thereof) that this so called "veterinarian' displayed. I think the last straw for me was when our family pet had some stool issues and all she offered to my pet was some very expensive diagnostics (which indicated noth more

Very disappointing experience - only option was killing 11/3/2010

Dr. VanAntwerp\r I had a very disappointing experience as well, and totally agree with Melissa?s post. \r When I REALLY needed them to treat my pet, their only option was killing ... Sorry I am so blunt but since I took my pets there for a quite a few years, that tells you I am not just throwing this in... \r \r The problem is that if you do not have major issues and just go for annual exams they seem OK (with all the minor things we all notice but decide to overlook...) and so when something truly desperate comes along you feel like you are alone, have no back-up plan and most importantly, you let you beloved pet down when it's most critical to save her...\r \r I was extremely shocked and devastated to see that there was no treatment option offered and I wasted 3 critical weeks in treating my pet. I had to ask for every single thing based on info from an on-line support group that basically saved my cat?s life! I was frankly quite worried that they might do something to my cat just to more

Dr. VanAntwerp 10/20/2010

Dr. VanAntwerp who is the owner of this establishment is a horrible doctor of veterinary medicine. Her bedside manner is terrible, she doesn't attempt to make any sort of connection with the client, she shows no remorse or sympathy with the client or the animals. I have a dog who has allergy issues and I took her to Carrollton West Pet Hospital with the hopes of getting some answers since there are four doctors there. Dr. VanAntwerp wanted to put my dog to sleep without doing any kind of tests or anything of an exploratory nature. If I would have listened to this "doctor" I wouldn't have my dog who is a part of my family. A few tests, a qualified and reputable doctor of veterinary medicine and prednisone are all that my little four legged family member needed. I would not recommend this doctor or her services to anyone unless they don't want answers and don't love their pets because all she's going to do is suggest putting the animal down. In speaking with other people I've found other more

Dr. morris is great the kennel girl not so much 5/22/2010

Dr. Morris is the best vet my family has ever had she is very nice and always explains things in a respectful and polite manner. But the little kennel girl there with the curly hair is the most foul mouthed person i have ever heard every other word out of her mouth is the f this or f that and she is disrespectful beyond belief someone needs to wash that girls mouth out with soap. more

Dr. Morris - AWESOME 4/9/2010

Dr. Morris and Carrollton West Pet Hospital are the most caring and compassionate vets I've ever come in contact with. The experience we had with our beloved golden retriever was exceptional and I would recommend them to anyone. more

Morris Leigh Anne Dvm - Carrollton West Pet Hospital 11/3/2009

Dr. Morris is a really great veterinarian. I have been with Carrollton West for roughly 5 years now and Dr. Morris has been our cats' vet for approximately the last three years. Over those years we unfortunately had a lot of vet visits so I feel I can definitely judge the quality of care we get from her. What sets her apart is that she has a personal approach to the animals as well as the owners. She knows my cats by name, knows their medical history without having to re-familiarize herself with it every time, and she always follows up. Even when the cats had to have specialty appointments, Dr. Morris calls and asks how things went. She really listens, is always available to answer questions or calls back promptly if she isn't. I feel strongly that when I ask her a question regarding veterinary care that I can trust what she says. For example, if she feels a condition warrants the involvement of a specialist, she says so and I really like that about her - she doesn't mind referring more

Greatest Vet Around1 9/3/2009

My husband and I drive our Papillion in for visits 20 miles on way for the care they provide to her. We have seen each of the Vets there and find them all great. The staff loves Lacee as if she was their own. Dr. V, as we call her, cares about her staff as she does the birds/animals brought in to be seen. It is worth the drive and we wouldn NEVER change. Pros: Vets and Staff more

Dr. Leigh Anne Morris, DVM at Carrollton West Pet Hospital 8/20/2009

Dr. Morris is the best Vet I have ever had, period. I have had pets for 30 years, and I don't think she is even that old. She is extremely thorough, intelligent, sensitive and kind. Just 3 hours ago she helped by putting down my beloved dog Riley that I just found out a few days ago was suffering from cancer. I only accidentally found this site when I was going to write her a thank you note. Are they perfect, probably not. I am a discerning consumer, and I looked for a long time, and tried several vets before settling on Dr. Morris at Carrollton West. My pets are party of my family, we were all there when Riley passed. I want a Vet to treat my pets as treasured family members, and the staff at Carrollton West does that. Regarding a good deal, I have no idea and I don't care. Regarding ongoing preventative care, I think all Vets need to figure out that volume equals lowest price and let their patients get what they need at the best price. But for those of us who value quality more

lost my trust in them 8/6/2009

Dr. Champagne is friendly and knows a lot about her field. However, I took my pet into get fixed and the receptionist confirmed my appointment with inaccurate information that could have been harmful to my pet. I found out from the vet prior to surgery that we had received the wrong information to prepare for surgery and I would have to come back another day. I came to pick up my pet that afternoon and found I had received some partial charges that I believe should have been comped for the trouble, but perhaps they wanted to get at least some money out of the visit!! I waiting almost 30 minutes for them to bring my pet to me from the back. What a hassle! No apologies, just a smart vet with an somewhat untrained front office staff. I'm going to do some research because there has to be better, and hopefully a less expensive alternative. Pros: smart vets Cons: office staff more

Carrollton West Pet Hospital, Dr VanAntwerp and staff are the best in town! 3/24/2009

For seven years I have had my two animals in the care of Carrollton West. One lived to 18 and one to 16, we went through a range of services over the years. They provide excellent care and treatment as well as great customer service. Having moved from Carrollton about 3 years ago, I make the drive in from Dallas as I would not want to use another group of Veterinarians and their great staff. more

horror 3/10/2009

On 1st visit, they forgot give me half of my heartworm preventative and I was told my dog tested strong positive for HW (he later tested negative at another vet). The treatment plan I was quoted was 2 weeks of hospitalization, lots of lab work, 3 HW injections, weeks of sedation, and $1.6K. The rescue group I had adopted from offered less invasive treatment and discount rate ($300). CWPH accidently deleted me from computers. I had no confidence in the office staff or the information from the Dr. !! more
