How does this place stay in Business?Never seen such poor work ethics..If the type of service they are supposed to provide wasn't in such demand surely their doors would be shut.In need of good competition! more

A great vacation! 3/28/2009

I read the other reviews from 2006 and I just had to post our recent trip from Dec08/Jan 2009. We stayed in a beautiful group of cabins called The Village through Carolina Vacations. We checked in after hours and got our keys and directions from the lockbox without any problems. The cabins were great. You could sit on the back porch and listen to the creek, they had very comfortable furnishings and big king sized beds. Everything was super clean and fresh. We went out to get groceries and round up some firewood in Waynesville. We somehow misplaced our set of keys. It was after 10:30 pm and well below FREEZING, I think it was maybe 10 degrees, and we called the after hours number for Carolina Vacations.com We thought we would have to wait at least 30 minutes or more for somebody to come out to help. The lady that answered the phone was so nice even though it was cold and late, she had to come out from home for our mistake. She brought us another set of keys and a bag of coffee. She was wearing pj's and a carhartt coat, and was GREAT! I don't know what went on for the other folks in 2006 but this year was fantastic for our bunch. I wouldn't stay with any company THE ARE THE BEST and care about customer service. more

Could have done much better 7/19/2006

We booked a place here for our vacation. I don't think it was really worth the money we spent. The place we rented was kind of dumpy. Well it was a 2 bedroom shack moreless. The pictures on the internet are kind of deceiving. I don't know how long ago they took the pictures or where exactly they took them from. The place we stayed as it was overgrown by trees and such so obviously we couldn't see anything. It was ok I guess. When we got there we were pretty disappointed. It was $565 for the week and with taxes and reservation fees it came out to a total of $737.00 + toiletries, soap etc... Need laundry soap to wash your own bath towels. The closest store is in Waynesville. You can go to the local store and pay an arm and a leg for small supplies you need. We could have stayed at a nice B & B. We could have rented a motel room for half the price. I noticed most of the hotels there had views and rocking chairs in the front. Not to mention the hotels have coffee, fresh linens and free continental breakfast. Some are even offering hot breakfast now. If I had to do it all over again I would most certainly just rent a room. For the amount of time you spend in it not to mention the amenities. Most of the places also have swimming pools. Our place was kind of dirty. It didn't look like anyone had cleaned it for quite some time. Spiders and cobb webbs all over the place. In the first 5 minutes we were there I stepped on a piece of glass cutting my heel open. Later on we found more glass through out the place. So I had to walk around with my shoes on. The place came with 2 garbage bags and one roll of toilet paper. We had to change the sheets on the bed because there was hair in it. They looked unwashed. Couldn't sit on anything on the porch. I had to clean that up too. The furniture was old and dirty and it wasn't very comfortable. Either was the bed. The place was really old and just seemed like it needed some work. Like the floors were coming up in the bathroom and there was a ton of mold and mildew. Also there was No view. The trees were overgrown and leaning on the screen and windows so that was the view. We had problems cooking because the pots and pans were so old the teflon was coming off. Nothing like a little teflon with your eggs. Upon check out we had to make sure we cleaned by the list of rules. If you don't read the check out sheet they will slam you with more fees. It's not like the place was nice or anything for them to be that picky. According to the internet it was a lot nicer. Like the trash compactor is 3 miles away at least. All trash has to be taken to the dumpster 3+ miles away or you get a fee. That was a little absurd to make someone drive that far to take out the trash. I don't mind taking out the trash but come on now. If we rented a hotel they would have disposed of it for us. There were all these other ridiculous fees and stuff. So you really have to read the paperwork and follow the check out instructions or you will end up with more fees added to your charge card. We went to the office and someone made a comment and the woman at the counter said that they couldn't tell you if one place was better than another for the same price. So I take it they are aware that some of them aren't very nice but rent them out anyway. That seems a bit unethical to me. We expected it to be a lot better than it was when we got there. If the neighbor decides they want to weedwhack for 3 hours starting at 7am you have to contend with that also. It just wasn't worth the money we spent. I guess there could be worse. There are also many places that are much better. Next time I'm going elsewhere. more
