false advertising.. they dont give 1 cent to Vietnam Vets 2/11/2010

I can tell you for sure that they dont support the Vietnam Veterans or anybody else except for the owners (who are millionaires). It is false advertising at a terrible expense. People think they are helping Vets and they are not. Im am all for somebody owning a store but dont lie to people and tell them that they are helping veterans by donating things. Please somebody stop them from lying to everyone.. more

not a non profit 1/26/2010

People think that when they donate to Carolina Thrift, and the same goes for Value Village, that they are a non profit. They are NOT non profit, they are FOR Profit. They partner with community non profits to get the goods on the cheap, then resell them for profit. Not quite the same as giving to Salvation Army or Goodwill. They still help by giving jobs to people who are in need, but please keep in mind that this company is for profit and if you want to do something to improve customer service, you need to complain ........ Pros: inventory is huge Cons: no customer service more

Good and Bad 8/13/2009

This store has now moved to a new location on W. Wendover Ave. It is still a large store with tons to look at, but it definitely has its drawbacks. The best things are the tag sales on different days and (almost) everything is half off on Mondays, BUT a lot of the items are terribly over-priced and do not go on sale. Also, the staff is generally unfriendly so don't ask anyone for help because they can't do anything about anything. And make sure that there is a price tag on everything you want because if not they will take it away and no matter what you do they will not sell it to you. They have a strange policy about that, unlike other thrift stores, and there is no manager there to answer a simple question. Don't expect ANY customer service--and if you have a question/issue DO expect ridiculous policies. You can find good deals but it is what it is--a poorly run business. Even though it's a thrift store they're still a business, and they've just lost a loyal customer like myself. Pros: tag sales Cons: staff, over-priced items more
