This restaurant offers a terrific Italian menu with varied North and South Italian dishes. I tried fresh mozzarella and basil with angel hair and pesto past! Excellente! I highly recommend stopping by this wonderful, upscale restaurant when ypu can! Farrah N. Ashline more

Carmine's Restaurant has been my favorite restaurant in Albany for over ten years. The food and service is always exceptional. The prices might seem a little higher than say, Mangia, but the price of the meal includes a salad and sorbet course, which is something that most restaurants in Albany do not offer, let alone give away inclusive of the meal price. Overall, I will be returning to Carmine's Restaurant for the next ten years, hopefully longer. more

Carmines was a great expierence from the time i walked in the door until the time i left the restaurant. We arrived on a Friday night around 6:30 (one of the busiest times). The four of us were greeted immediately, saw to our table, and without skipping a beat our waitor was over to offer us bottled or ice water. I liked to see the way the wait staff worked together. It was a very busy night, however we didn't wait for anything, someone was always there to see if there was anything we needed. Overall our expierence couldnt have been better, and I would recommend Carmines to all my friends and family! more

Here is a timeline of our dining experience: 7:00-arrived at restaurant, same time as our reservation; 7:10-finally acknowledged by a staff member and three minutes later brought to table 7:21-(by now I was noting the wait times) served a glass of warm water. 7:29-drink order taken, along with a promise of bread 7:45-drinks delivered, order taken 8:10-bread arrives 8:12 appetizers arrive 8:35 dinner arrives Of course by this time any pleasure that could be derived from a restaurant has long faded. We did not get our salad, nor did we get the "palate cleansing" sorbet. Nor did we get any service. I spoke to the restaurant manager who apologized (I could tell he was sincere) and offered to satisfy us with the promise of free alcohol. This would have been the previously ordered glass of wine,and one bottle of beer. The check finally arrived with meals listed at full price,no account for the time or unserved food. Carmines expects my money to be good, can I not expect the same of the service I have purchased? One does not eat in Carmines because of hunger but rather atmosphere. The atmospheric conditions were insufferable. I paid the bill, left the twenty percent tip. I will not quibble over a few dollars. Carmine's is probably my favorite restaurant to go to. The food is outstanding. The service is of excellent quality. I love the little extra touches that they do as well, like wheeling out the desserts right to your table and describing each one and the little intermezzo they serve you to cleanse your palate before your meal comes. I think though that the #1 reason I love it so much is because it doesn't matter whether your dressed in jeans or a gown, you are treated with the upmost respect, Carmine's always makes you feel welcome. This is my favorite restaurant in Albany. If you have the opportunity to set up a group meal and have Carmine cook for you on the spot? Go hungry! Everything is absolutely amazing. I can highly recommend the gnocchi as an appetizer and the banana sharpa for dessert. They are out of this world Pros: Just close your eyes and point at an item - EVERYTHING is good here! I love Carmine's even more each time I visit. In an area filled with Italian restaurants Carmine's is a great find. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. I tried the veal cheeks after Carmine himself, heard me discussing the dish with my family and came over and explained the dish then offered to make a special appetizer version for me. It was awesome. Carmine even sent out after dinner drinks for my grandmother's birthday Each time I've returned I've felt the same sense of hospitality from each waiter or waitress I've had. I have never enjoyed a dining experience out quite like my first time to Carmines ... that is until I went there a second time and enjoyed it even more. Everything is first class from the moment you walk in to the service to the food, etc. It was just plain wonderful in every possible aspect. And the entrees are very affordable when you consider the quality of food you are receiving. If you don't enjoy Carmines, you should get a life and stop complaining!!! Although I was initially put off by the location, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent food and service. Actually, the location in a strip mall offers easy and plentiful parking. Once inside, the ambience is both elegant and warm. The menu is interesting and I have yet to try anything that was not delicious. The food is very good one of the best restaurants in the area. The waiters are very friendly and helpful. They are very open to variations of the menu and even state that the menu is just suggestions. Very good food. more

The service and food was phenomonal. My boyfriend and I were waited on as soon as we walked in the door. He ordered a type of beer that the restuarant didn't carry, so they sent someone to the store to get it for him. The food was great and plenty for leftovers. Well worth your time and money. Pros: great service, good parking, excellent food more
