Great experience 7/27/2010

Was in NO for a week and wanted to not eat at a chain restaurant. Was totally surprised at the friendly staff and had a great grilled tuna; wife loved her spaghetti. Went back a few days later and had lasagna; same results. I thought the priced matched the food quality. Pros: Good food and good staff more

A health inspector should be called immediately! 7/17/2010

This disgusting, low-class, poorly run establishment cheats their customers out of what they THINK they're ordering. I personally know that the "trout" that is served is actually not trout at all, in fact its a gulf fish called sheep head. These low-class scum bags try to cheat their customers and their employees. THIS PLACE HAS THE DIRTIEST KITCHEN AND FREEZER I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY 10+ YEARS OF FOOD SERVICE. A health inspector should be called immediately! Pros: Next to Chilis Cons: Everything more

Delicious authentic Italian cuisine 3/13/2010

We have visited Carmine's numerous times and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience every time. First, as you walk in you feel the cozy, welcoming ambience. Second, the service is on point. Lastly, your taste buds will not want to leave even though you are so full you just can't possibly take another bite! more

Awesome Seafood Stuffed Artichoke! 6/29/2008

The food and service was excellent. We have traveled from Houston, TX to New Orleans, LA twice this year. Both times we have stopped at Carmine's for lunch and have NOT been dissapointed! The seafood stuffed artichoke is to die for and the soft shell crab was delicious. The restaurant has a nice friendly atmosphere, great casual dining, and excellent food. We will continue to eat at Carmine's each time we visit New Orleans. more

Great softshell crab and incredible dessert 5/22/2008

Carmines is casually elegant with lots of quirky touches to the decor, dark hardwoods, and italian murals. The softshell crab was very good, as was the trout. Great sauces. Strangely, the marinara on the angel hair pasta was very watery and lacked any distinction, but it was the only flaw of the meal. Their white chocolate bread pudding is heaven on earth. Worst food ever 10/17/2007

I had a horrible experience. I do not advise eating at this restaurant. The food made me have stomache problems for several days. I found an insect in my pasta. The place still smelled like mildew. Nice people but a good restaurant does not just mean good people. Pros: Good service Cons: Terrible food more

Simply the Best, Better than all the rest 5/26/2005

A truly great experience. Not only great italian dishes and many of them, but some of the best prepared seafood dishes i have eaten. The personal attention given to our table by Chef Joseph Pacaccio was greatly appreciated. A wonderful night enjoyed by all. I highly recommend this establishment. Carmine's is a cozy restaurant serving authentic Italian cuisine. Just to be safe you probably want to make reservations in order to minimize waiting especially if with a large group. Having been here several times, service is hit and miss, but generally good. If looking for a new place to try, Carmine fits the bill. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: parking more

Attentive and satisfying 5/20/2002

I've eaten here only a few times, but have never had a bad experience. My most lasting impression was when we had a large family dinner here, and Carmine's took care of every detail. The food was delicious and genrously portioned, the service accommodating and spot on. The neon signage belies the restaurant's comfort and subtlety. more
