My husband recently purchased as new Pacifica for me from this Carmax location. At first we thought the deal was just great, although excessively time consuming. Good trade in value, nice incentives to buy another Chrysler vehicle, Great car, good follow-up.
But of course, such a smooth deal was too good to be true. You see, they messed up on our paperwork really, really, really, really, really bad! After keeping my husband there for hours on end to fill out the paperwork, they somehow missed the fact that the loan offer we accepted was contingent on us trading in a car other than the car we had given them. We already had a loan with this company, and they were happy to give us another granted we were trading loan for loan. We are talking about the difference between an Audi and a Town and Country here. The cars don't look alike, and the descriptions on paper don't look alike either.
We got the first hint that something was amiss when the loan company called us telling us that our insurance on the new car was not correct and asking when we where handing over the Audi. After informing them we were not, we were informed they would get back to us if there was a problem...
they did not call, so we did not worry.
However, Carmax finally called us in a very manner, as if we had made the error and informed us that we either had switch trade-ins, or return the pacifica, or sign for another loan, which by the way was at a higher interest rate. After checking with my lawyer, I found that I had no choice but to choose one of their options so we signed for the higher interest rate. (We were keeping the Audi and did not want the Town and Country back)
I can't help but suspect that there was a bit of a bait and switch situation here. Needless to say, I had any sign of where the car was purchased removed from my vehicle so I don't have to remember the horrible process we went through to get my beautiful car.
