I just boarded my dog for 1 week at Care A Lot for the first time. It appealed to me because I loved the fact that the dogs that are boarded get to participate in Day Care all day long on weekdays, instead of just being locked up in a kennel. The staff I met were very friendly and seemed very professional, and I felt at ease with leaving my dog with them. HOWEVER, my one complaint, and it is a big one, is that their hours are RIDICULOUS! During the week they are closed for 2 hours, from 12-2 p.m. (probably one of the most busy times of the day, since that is when everyone has a lunch break). They call it ""nap time,"" but I understand that it is really just to give the staff a lunch break. But they COMPLETELY shut down. You can't talk to anyone, you can't pick up your pet during that time... nothing. Now, do they all really need a 2 hour lunch break? Wouldn't it make a whole lot more sense to leave at least one person at the front to check in and out and answer questions? And during the weekends it's even worse. They are only open for TWO HOURS the entire day: from 8:30-9:30 a.m., then not again until 6:30-7:30 p.m. You have to pick up your pet before 12 noon in order to avoid being charged for another day. That is fair; most places have similar rules. But you only have a ONE HOUR window (8:30-9:30) to make it before noon! After that you have to wait until 6:30 to see your pet (AND pay for another day). If this was just a ""mom and pop"" type place, with little support staff or resources, I might be more understanding. But this is a big business, with plenty of resources and staff. There is just no reason for these insane, inconvenient hours. I don't know if I will ever use Care A Lot again, because it is just too difficult to work around their maddening, ludicrous schedule.
Pros: Professional, Day Care all day for pets that are boarded
Cons: Ludicrous, insane, ridiculous hours
