While preparing dinner, I sliced my pointer finger almost half off. My husband took me to Care Now, because it was the closest medical facility to our home. When we arrive, the receptionist at the front asks me what my insurance is. I tell her Medicare. She says they don't take Medicare, but they go ahead and send me back. The nurse checks my vitals...I am bleeding profusely and in a lot of pain. I also feel very sick to my stomach like I am going to faint. That same girl comes into the room and says ""We are going to need to send you to another urgent care facility."" We ask why? She says ""We don't take Medicare"". My husband says ""Okay, we will pay cash today...just sew my wife's finger up"". She says ""We can't take cash from Medicare patients"". WHAT?????? I am a citizen of the US and I am being turned away???? What business is it of Medicare if I pay cash for a service???? So, I remembered that my PT told me of a great urgent care down the street in Colleyville (Premiere) and the receptionist , out of pity for me, gets on the phone and calls them to see if they are still open, etc. The receptionist from Premiere obviously asks what insurance I have, and the receptionist from Care Now LIES and says that I do not have insurance. So, they are willing to lie to another facility, but they aren't willing to take my cash and forget that Medicare exists. Honestly, it was a blessing in disguise, as we both took a look at the doctor on duty that night and he looked like a total doofus. We have since been told that most of the doctors and nurses that work at Care Now are med, nursing school rejects. Not someone you want sewing up a bad cut! DO NOT RISK GOING TO CARE NOW FOR ANYTHING!!!!
