Too crowded, too expensive 3/25/2006

I avoid the Loomis as much as possible. The restaurant is great but the bar is entirely too crowded. I've seen it so packed that you have to squeeze your way through from the door to the back. The prices are ridiculous. Get two drinks at a time because it takes soooooooooo long to get one. You won't want to wait a second time. The DJ has been good when I was there. more

The place for French Onion Soup 3/23/2006

The Loomis has the best french onion soup! The prices are in tune with the quality of food you receive. My husband enjoys their shrimp dishes and I always order Pasta Aglio Olio. The setting is nice and semi-formal without being stuffy or pretentious. We have never had a less than great experience at the restaurant. more

I have a balanced review of The Captain Loomis. If you would like GREAT food and hospitality from THE RESTURANT side,...then by all means, visit the Captain Loomis. BUT,..to extend to the bar area,...don't waste your time.The drinks are OVERPRISED and the noise is EXTENSIVE! Eat at the resturant,..but STAY OUT OF THE BAR! more

Great food, great service 12/27/2005

A person favorite of mine, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a good meal and friendly service. The service is great from the moment that you walk into the lobby, until you pay your bill. The food is always excellent, with great portions. A very cheery atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable is a added bonus. The food ranges from moderate, to pricey, but worth every penny. The only thing that is keeping the fine establishment from being perfect is that the dining room can be a little crowded. more

Loads of Fun 6/17/2005

The Captain Loomis is a fun place to dance and have a few drinks. They have a DJ Friday & Saturday nights featuring primarily 80's music and Top 40. They have pinball, darts, arcade machines and pool. It is a local hot spot for the college community. They also have a restaurant that offers good American cuisine and a 6 pack shop. more
