not great 3/12/2008

not great. They got my order wrong 3 times and food is just ok. Their resturant could use some soap and water. more

The Owners SOLD THE PLACE...are now at other location which is terrific! 1/2/2008

I guess if you are going to eat in Dundalk you have to read the Dundalk newspaper first. I have been going to Captain Harvey's for a long long time, and never thought they would sell the place. Now I know. I learned the hard way. I was very disappointed the last time I went..didnt see a lot of the same poeple and DEFINTELY did not get the same quality food or service. I gave it a second chance right before Christmas. Very disappointed again. Then I found out what happened from someone else and just confirmed it literally ab out an hour ago. Captain harvey's sold and moved to Merritt Boulevard. What a difference. I just got back from Merritt Boulevard and the food was terrific! I wish I would have known before. I will now resume my once a month trip for subs but to Merritt Boulevard. They did a great job but didnt do a good job letting people know they moved! more

very disappointing 12/25/2006

I'm from Philly and I heard so much about this place. First of all, the roll is terrible. The meat has no flavor and they don't even melt the cheese. Probably one of the worst cheesesteaks I've ever had. If you want a real cheesesteak down in Maryland, go to South Street Steaks in College Park. Captain Harveys may be big, but in terms of quality it's pretty awful. Pros: essentially nothing Cons: very poor sandwich more

Go Stuff Your Face 11/10/2005

Ok, forget about counting calories or watching your cholesterol level. If you're searching for a steak sub, you shouldn't even be considering your health anyway. With that in mind, get down to Capt. Harvey's and get the biggest cheesesteak on the face of the earth! Just give me steak, cheese, and fried onions. Don't even bother with mayo, lettuce, etc. There's no room for that on the sub anyway. I bought a whole sub one day, and weighed it on a scientific scale at work, and it came to 2 1/2 pounds! On a 1/2 sub, they give you 4 slices of cheese ($5.65), and 8 slices on a whole ($11.30). Enough for 2 meals! Pros: Great Subs!, Cheap for amount, Quick service Cons: Only 2 locations more

The best sandwiches. period. 6/12/2005

That just about describes it. Everything but seating. It has been the best for a long time, and its no wonder. more

HUGE!!! 2/7/2003

My husband is from Baltimore and took me to have a sub. I thought Texas had big subs.....but nothing like these. They were enormous and very good. Although, it would be nice if there were seating available. more

Choice Cheesesteak 2/7/2003

These are the best cheesesteaks outside of Philadelphia. They pile the meat high and put on plenty of cheese. You will definitely need 10-12 napkins to get through on of these subs. YUM!!!! Pros: Great value, Plenty of meat Cons: Only one in the area more

SAVVY STEAK PLACE 2/7/2003

THIS IS ONE EATERY THAT WILL FILL YOUR BELLY AND NOT COST YOU AN ARM AND A LEG. FOR LESS THAN 6 BUCKS YOU CAN GORGE YOURSELF ON A MOUNTAIN OF STEAK AND FRENCH FRIES. FOR SOMETHING ELSE GOOD TRY THE SPECIAL BREW SODAS OR THE HUGE MILKSHAKES. Pros: TASTY, CHEAP, GOOD SERVICE Cons: NO SEATING, NOT HEALTHY more

not always great 1/23/2003

Ate here 35 yrs ago-food was great-came back 3 yrs ago after 20 yrs down South and found if you get it at lunch or dinner time, it can be great. However, if you go off hours God knows how long its been sitting there. Lots of cheese & onions, could use some seasoning and please, real onion rings - not the frozen kind. Back in dundalk. Pros: good parking, fast service Cons: food needs salt/peppe more

You Gotta Go There!! 1/10/2003

Feed a family of 4 on 1 whole sub. Enought steak for 4 people! Owner former Dundalk High graduate. Too bad he went to NC college! more

Steak-Out 1/9/2003

Cheese steak sub that is out of this world. Plentiful and fast...don't let the line fool you...it moves fast. Only downside, in the original location in Logan Village, no place to sit down. Pros: Cheap, Fast, Plentiful Cons: No sit down more

I REMEMBER! 11/14/2002

I can remember when I was young lad coming up. We lived in pasadena. And my granfather worked for bethlham steel. He would tke all teh grand kids to Captian Harvey's for steaksubs once a week. I could remeber pulling up to that place back with folk and getting a nice messy juicy steak and cheese sub. When I sarted dating one day riding along I said to my girlfriend who is now my wife let me take you to get some mess good food and that is where we went. With two kids when ever my daughter says steak and cheese we ride all the way to dundalk to get a good chesse and steak it's work the drive and the time. more

Good Eats!! 11/6/2002

Took a road trip from Severn to Dundalk to try this famous so called Cheese Steak sub. Oh my God! What a meal! This Texas gal is hooked on it. It's a place where I take out of town visitors to eat. It's an area attraction for them. more

Only 5 minutes away! 10/25/2002

I am happy Captain Harvey's is only 5 minutes away from my home. The food is always great and fresh. more

Old Soldier Remembers 10/19/2002

As a young Army Privated at Fort Holabird I have many fond memories of Captain Harveys. Near the end of the month I would roll all my accumulated pennies so I could get a delicious Submarine sandwich... Of course, Fort Holabird is a now a memory... but every time I return to Baltimore I always make it a point to stop for the best sub ever made. Thirty years have past but the quality and quanity of food has not changed! Keep up the tradition!!! C. G. ""Al"" Alvord, Arcadia FL Pros: excellent food, large quanity more

Best Sub on the East Coast!! 10/4/2002

You can lose weight with Subway Maintain your weight with Royal Farms But just looking at a Captain Harvey's sub, you start racking up the calories. There is no comparison of cheese-steak sub anywhere. They put soooo much meat on the sub that you have to take the extra off and eat it with a fork. It is impossible to completely close a sub. You can smell Captain Harvey's Cheese Steak Sub, when you drive past and it makes you wanna turn around and get a sub. NO ONE can beat Captain Harvey's Pros: soooo much meat, cheap, quick Cons: not a sit-down place, not enough chains more

You are way off!! 10/3/2002

Hi if you have ever been to Baltimore you know seafood is big! If you have ever been to Captin Harveys you know it is Baltimores Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Captin Harveys Is #1 and Double T is #2. I am from Baltimore. My husband and I drive Tractor trailer and we eat out all of the time!! Captin Harveys is not a fancy place but it is the best!!!! On a scale of 1 - 10 Captin Harveys is a 100!!! Pros: Best Food, Great Food, Unbelivable Food Cons: None, None, None more

Best of the Best 8/10/2002

I am in my 50's and have been going to Captain Harvey's for their Cheese Steak Subs ever since I can remember. I now live in Pasadena and travel over the Key Bridge just to get these wonderfully filling delicious tasting subs. Their Corn Fritters are a great treat also. Mention Captain Harvey's at my place of work and Everyone in my Department is ready to order. We placed an order for over $250.00 and received it with only 2 mistakes. Not too Bad!! Of course they fixed the problem with extras to boot to the person who went back later to pick up the order. Nice!! Pros: Plenty of Parking, Great Prices, Fast Service Cons: Don't Deliver more

Filling 8/7/2002

Their Cheesesteak subs are a meal in itself! Always the sub is overstuffed with freshly cut meat. Not store bought wafer thin. It is worth the price ($4.50 for a half sub). I live only a block and a half from the sub shop, and when people ask me where I live, I say Logan Village in Dundalk. They usally say where? Then I say near Capt. Harvey's Sub Shop, which then they know exactly where it is. Pros: Plentiful Cons: Always a line, Crowded more

Delicious 7/26/2002

Captain Harvey's Submarines are the best. They put so much meat and fixings on the roll, that you cannot really eat it all at one time. The staff is very friendly and they work hard to get you in and out, but it is usually crowded. Pros: good value, great food, friendly service Cons: location, crowded more
