I called capstone investments to inquire about a few rentals they have listed. I spoke with a female that had an accent. Every time I had a question about a property (appliances, safety, windows - when I could see the prop, etc) she all of a sudden was unable to speak the clear English she spoke a second before. Then she would slur, yes slur that every property was not available - for me - yes she said ""for you"". \r So the only conclusion I have is that either she only wants non English speaking tenants - or she does not want to speak with females. As I was polite and patient with her, would rephrase my questions in hopes to establish communications with her.\r When I asked her name - of course she did not speak English again - I asked her in Spanish - she hung up.\r DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! I WAS VERY INTERESTED IN PICKING ONE OF THEIR PROPERTIES AND MOVING IN - BUT I SPOKE ENGLISH AND WAS A FEMALE more

Despite who else might rent from Capstone Investments, I have to caution you: DO NOT RENT FROM CAPSTONE INVESTMENTS! Or, if you're looking for some one to manage your property, have some dignity, self-respect, and respect for others: DO NOT LET CAPSTONE INVESTMENTS MANAGE YOUR PROPERTY! Our experience was bizarre and I'm happy to say that we backed out before signing a lease. \r \r We had never heard a good word from anyone who knew of this company, first red flag right? Every time we called to express interest in a property or, when further along in the process, to ask a question about the property in which we were interested, it was made obvious that we were incredibly unimportant to them and we were creating some sort of hassle with any normal question such as, “will you turn on the heat or power or water just so that we know it will work before we sign the lease?”\r \r We found what we thought to be a diamond-in-the-rough in a really nice area of town. It was in pretty bad shape. It needed regular repairs such as paint, screen replacement for the porch and a lot of cleaning (and other structural issues). We were advised by the Capstone agent to offer a little less for the rent due to the condition. We did and we offered to do the work needed ourselves. Everything seemed to be going okay... but slowly! It would take Capstone 3-5 days to get back to us about any question, offer, or counter offer. Each time they did respond to us (at least via phone) it was with the same disrespectful tone and obtuse aggravation. It was as if they didn't really want us to rent the property...\r \r If you can't assume from my review, I am a well-educated, post-graduate school citizen with an intelligent, well-employed wife. One dog, no kids. Credit is great, never missed a rent payment while in graduate school (our previous and most recent renting situation). I don't know why they would not want two responsible, employed adults in this somewhat run-down property.\r \r We finally decided that the location was good enough, and that the house had such potential for cute, creative decor that we would just be patient with Capstone until we could get in. Once in, we would pay rent on time and know between ourselves that we would never ask them for anything since they clearly won't do, and haven't done, anything to keep the place up. Any type of standard for Capstone is either incredibly low, or non-existent as apparent by their properties and managerial tactics.\r \r We tried to employ this tactic. However, they pushed the move-in date back two times when I asked them to bring it up to code (service the HVAC, replace an outlet and install two Fire Alarms). Apparently that would take almost two weeks to have done. We had been trying to work with these people for three weeks already. \r \r We finally backed out. When I called to tell the woman at Capstone, she couldn't have sounded more happy about it! Bizarre. She actually let out a big sigh and said ""good!"" and then went on to tell me that she ""completely understood"" and the owner ""probably wouldn't have brought it up to code anyways"" (illegal). I tried to get some sort of explanation as to why they are so terrible at this by saying she must be overwhelmed and I hoped things got better for her in the future. Get this, she replied with ""OH THINGS ARE GREAT, I THINK YOU JUST PICKED THE WRONG PLACE TO RENT."" \r \r Are these people supposed to be listing houses to rent? It seems like they are just accepting any listing fees from the owners and trying to do as little work as possible. We wanted to live in Concord; close to work, close to friends. Capstone chased us not only out of that property, but out of Concord entirely. The local economy can thank them, and companies like them, for chasing money out of their town and wallets. Someone with authority ought to do something about Capstone Investments… Sorry Concord, we’ll be back to visit from time to time. Good luck. \r more

terrible. illegal. 1/9/2011

I had a house with Capstone for 2 years. Nothing ever got fixed, even emergencies. They didn't reimburse for fixes I had to do in emergency situations. The house is not up to code, and as a result of the windows not even closing, a wasp managed to get into my bed and sting me (I'm severely allergic.) I don't suppose they'll be picking up the bill for my medical expenses either. They charged us exorbitant amounts of money out of our security, despite the fact that the house was spotless. They allowed a thief to mow the lawn, who did steal things off my porch. Their maintenance staff used my furniture to stand on when fixing a light fixture, then denied making the footprint on it. I was threatened on the phone.... I mean, it goes on and on and on. You name it--they've done it. Slum lords. Run away. more

I hate CAPSTONE! 1/8/2011

My husband and I stayed in a rental property with Capstone. Throughout the ordeal of staying there for almost 2 yrs we encountered problems with our safety and communication with Capstone. In the last 6 months that we lived in the home, the owners decided that they wanted to sell the property and capstone came out unannounced and put a lockbox on the door so the owners and realtors could enter at their convienience. When confronted that this was unacceptable they never came to removed the lockbox. After my husband and I found a place to move and we moved out, we then recieved a court order to pay 3000 dollars of damages. The damages included normal wear and tear such as 750 dollars for painting, 1200 for carpet repair, 250 for trash removal (3 boxes were left in the home). When I called Capstone they said they were the bottom of the token poll and there was nothing they could do that the owner was taking us to court. I am shocked that this rental company can not protect the renter's and that they back up the owners even when they know the owners are out of line. I know that the people that own the home are very wealthy and they have alot of properties that they rent out with Capstone but I still believe that there should be some type of protection for myself. We are going to fight this matter in court. I just wanted to write this so other people don't make a mistake and rent from a company that doesn't care if you have proper heat/air, plumbing, and protection from the owners just showing up at any given moment without notice. Also, FYI to all the people that are thinking about renting out properties that they own with Capstone. Please go sit in the office or outside the office one day and look at all the scum that come in and out of there days 1-5 of every month. Do you really want people like that renting from you? CAPSTONE just lost a great future homebuyer/renter when they turned there back to us and let the owner's try to rip us off. more

Horrible Company 12/16/2008

Capstone is a terrible company to deal with. I used them to lease out my property and they messed everything up from the beginning. They let the tenants move in early without my permission, removed a key for the pest control person to get into the house early and he was not able to enter the house, broke things in the house when they went there to repair something, did not contact me when problems arose in the house, and the list goes on. I had to break my contract with them and they said they would not charge the early termination fee because of all the mistakes made, but then charged it and refused to give it back. Wow! They get to screw everything up and charge me for it. How nice! There is lack of communication in this company between employees, tenants, and landlords. I hate to even give them 1 star. Everything was a total disaster with them and if I were you I would think twice about using this company for any reason. Pros: Cannot think of any Cons: Bad customer service, employees lie, poor communication, repeated mistakes more
