Best

This had the best gelato in the US I've ever had, and I keep trying whether NY, PA, CA, etc. Make sure to get the Gelato and Breich! Pros: Smooth and Authentic

Worst

The one on 20th street is closer to my apartment, and I was excited when it opened. I've been in a few times. The gelato is good, but the people behind the counter leave you with ...

Mmmmmmm... 3/19/2006

I'd never had gelato before having it at Capogiro, but I would give an arm and a leg if I could find it better than here because this place is awesome! The selection of gelatos and sorbets varies from day to day with a few exceptions--they always have a handful of regular flavors that you can find any day you go there. They make an attempt to use locally grown fruits when they're available, and their offerings change with the seasons to keep everything as fresh and yummy as possible. I know they offer some beverages and some non-gelato food items, but honestly, I'm never paid enough attention to even know what it is. The staff is friendly, and they'll let you try any flavor at all. Keep in mind though, that the prices are a liiiiitle bit on the high side and that they only accept cash, so it's more of an occasional, amazing treat. more

The best ever 1/16/2006

This stuff is way better than ice cream. It is so rich and creamy I think I could eat a gallon of it! They are so many interesting flavors like hazelnut, roasted pineapple, and passion fruit. You cab try before you buy to so you are guaranteed to get a flavor you like. I think the prices are really high I think it was three dollars and something for two scoops that were not that big. However this stuff is really rich so you do not need that much. The place is cool and up scale looking. more

Worth Every Penny! 12/31/2005

If you love rich and subtle flavors, creamy sensual ice cream and a cute modern ambiance, try Capogiro Gelateria. If you have never tried Gelato, please go. If you have been to Italy and returned to the States in search of anything that tastes like real italan gelato, you will not be disappointed. In addition to the one on 13th street, a new one opened on 20th and Sansom and several places like Capricchio's has a few flavors from them on their menu. After having Capogiro gelato, it is hard to go back to Ben & Jerry's. more

Nothing else like it 12/15/2005

My favorite post-dinner place is Capogiro. I've hit up places in NYC and Cali and nothing seems to capture such a powerful flavor except this little gem in Center City. To top it off, they also serve the wonderful La Colombe coffee. They use seasonal fruits for their Gelato (except for the Lemon, which they always have). In addition, they play with exotic fruits and blends of fruits and herbs, believe it or not. I would definately take advantage of these rare finds. Get the pineapple/herb blend, if availible. If you have a penchant for chocolate and/or coffee, get the Cappochino gelato, which is also made from La Colombe coffee. They always have some sort of chocolate-flavored gelato. The only downside is the price: A coffee and two scoops of gelato will set you back $9. more
