Paul Needs Help 11/4/2011

I was astounded to look up Capmasters on the Internet (this site) and see the inflamatory input from Paul. My take is he is either a confused, beligerent, or ignorant sole or he is acustomed to cheating contractors. Five years ago Capmasters transformed my mothers chimney and cap into a work of art. The work was extremely professional, on time and within the agreed budget. No problems five years later! Just two years ago Capmasters put up a similar cap on my chimney and I enjoyed the same level of professionalism. Over the last five years I have referred probably 10 friends and relatives and all were equally pleased. The conclusion... you get what you pay for and what goes around comes around! more

After proposing a thorough and comprehensive repair plan to replace rotting wood at the top of my chimney chase and to cover the replaced wood with a custom fabricated chase cover, this contractor used my absence as an opportunity to perform only HALF the agreed work and to demand full payment from my unaware and confused wife. Rather than remove the rotted lumber at the top of the chimney, he chose to conceal the damage--and the continuing rot--under the apron of the new cover he put on the chimney chase. The REPLACEMENT of that rotted wood, along with the caulking and painting of the new installation, easily accounted for HALF the labor in the job. Any rank amateur could have popped a new cover on the chimney and hidden the damage. I hired someone who touts himself as a ""proud"" professional. There is NOTHING to be proud of in this job. Nor in his refusal to return my phone calls over a five-day period (and counting). This proud professional even attached the new chase cover with a a pair of screws driven through the TOP of the cover--you know, the flat area that's exposed to the RAIN.\r Save yourself some grief. Don't get involved with Capmaster Chimney Covers. You'll just have to get the job re-done by someone with integrity. \r Add to the negligence and deception the matter of personal insult: Just how blind or stupid did this guy think I am? In photographs taken AFTER his repair, the weather stains and the dried/cracked caulk on the OLD wood trim that he DIDN'T replace match up perfectly with the photos I took of the chimney BEFORE I had it repaired. \r And did he think I wouldn't notice the damage he did--and left un-repaired--in the paint finish on the chimney chase. What I got for my money was one big, quickie rip-off. \r more
