Capital Women's Care

I was a patient with Capital Women's Care (CWC) for many years. I would have left this group a long time ago but I really liked one of the doctors. However, I can’t put up with the billing issues at this practice. I’d like all potential patients to think twice about selecting CWC. The first issue I discovered was an over payment to CWC by my secondary insurance company. CWC filed a claim with my primary insurance company and received a full payment. Instead of billing my secondary insurance company for the leftover balance, CWC did not tell my secondary insurance company that they received a full payment from my primary insurance company. CWC was over paid by more than $1,000. It was too late when I discovered this. CWC never returned the money back to the insurance company. The second issue concerns co-pays. They routinely ask for co-pays. You may pay a co-pay that is not required. CWC collected many co-pays from me that were not necessary. Instead of giving me as credit or refund, CWC would write them off and keep them. If you realized that you overpaid and requested a refund, it would take months to get it back. I asked the office manager why they did not refund the over payment like other practices. She rudely responded that “CWC is not like other practices, refunds will be given only by request.” So, if you don't keep track or forget about an over payment, it will disappear from your account. You may be wondering how they can get away with this. Unfortunately, there are no laws or regulations preventing providers from keeping any over payment I tried to recover the refunds but CWC’s corporate office pointed out that they are only required by law to maintain medical and financial records for 5 years. Therefore, they can neither confirm nor deny any wrongdoing because they don't have the records. However, I have a complete file of billing statements and EOBs but CWC refuses to accept my evidence and issue a refund. It appears that this unethical billing practice was condoned from the top down. more

I've been going to CWC since I started college in 2009 and first got on birth control, and have never had any problems with this clinic. While there is always a bit of a wait unless you are there first thing in the morning, the staff has always been helpful. I've seen both Dr. Grossman and Dr. Lee, and both were great. Dr. Grossman was always very helpful whenever I came in for BC needs, and I plan on staying with CWC for a long time! more

First and foremost, i want to say the doctors-especially Dr. Lauren and Dr. Chen are exceptional doctors BUT the front desk staff are rude, unfriendly and horrible. Next worse is the billing dept. who billed me after my wife delivered and insurance paid some, a bill for $840 i believe. I called and made payment plan with them by paying as much as i could every month. I missed one month due to an oversight. I got NO call, NO reminder, NO bill but instead a letter from a collection company who tagged on their own fee of $60. When i called the billing dept. they said it's out of their hands & i should deal with the collect. Co. eventhough they never notified me or gave me any warning they were forwarding the bill to collection. A year later my wife got pregnant again, i went to their Germantown location with my wife, well, the flat out refused her service and demamded she pays the balance-which they had told us was out of their hands and i should deal with the collect. Co. I explained to them that the bill is now between me and the collection company but it was fruitless. It's a shame that such great doctors like Lauren & Chen are stuck with such lousy Company. more

I had Dr. Apgar and Dr. Tran and both were fantastic doctors who made me and my husband feel extremely comfortable throughout our first pregnancy!! However, dealing with administration and billing is a huge nightmare. They never log payments correctly and to get someone to look into the matter takes months. I would HIGHLY recommend the doctors, but would strongly recommend not using this practice due to administration issues. more

Since moving to the area, I've been seeing the doctors at this practice. Let me start by saying that the two reviewers that liked the practice mentioned doctors that aren't at this branch. With a high risk pregnancy, I experienced pretty regular visits over the past 9 months. My experience? Adequate doctors, but indifferent bedside manner. Also, rather than share information and explore options, the doctors seemed to fluctuate between the most routine examinations and sharing scary worst case scenarios without sharing solutions. Worse, the billing and appointment staff is an abysmal bureaucracy. Finally, the doctors don't seem to talk to one another about patient care -- at my last appointment the doctor kept asking me what another doctor's diagnosis had been but that doctor had never told me. Given that appointments are often with different doctors, that's a problem. Overall, save yourself time and go elsewhere. more

I hate this care. They changed offices in Rockville and I was 5 Mts late and they claimed I was 20mts late as the front desk had noone in the front. They said Dr.Wei can still see me but I had to wait. I will never visit CWC ever again. more

Very nice experience. CWC. I didn't wait more tha 15 minutes, I went for my Pap, no pain at all, Dr Lizardo is the best; compassive and gentle. Friendly enviroment ...I love it! more

I have been to a number of OB/GYNs practices, having moved a lot. And I'd say that sadly, by far, this practice has a very unfriendly and unprofessional nursing staff. The nursing assistants don't say much to the patients, and a lot of times appear to be inpatient-like they don't want to be there. I only expect a professional attitude, but find this practice needs to reorganized and rehire some of its staff. The physicians are fine, but I do not look forward to my visits b/c of other staff members...even the people who schedule appointments can be rude. Needless to say, I'm switching b/c it's just not worth it. This isn't a bad place, but far from the best. more

I read the reviews and thought I was going to be in for a horrible experience. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was my dr great, I had NO WAIT TIME, and the doctor talked to me for 45 minutes. She answered all of my questions. Syeda Naureen Alam, MD was great!!! more

Wait are horrible. 2 hours, while the doctors are ok, it's not worth your whole day. Look for another practice. more

I am a doctor in the DMV who has been in pediatric practice for several years. So I know what it takes to have a successful practice. This facility is horrid to say the least. I have never seen such service in my yeast of practice. My issues with Capital Women's care are as follows: 1. They overbook and "stack" patients to increase income, which is the last thing any practice should partake in. 2. Staff is not courteous or caring toward patients. 3. They have a long history of discharging patients for being late for appointments. This jeopardizes the health of the mother and the child. It is my advice to avoid this practice by any means necessary. The care that you receive while you are pregnant should be impeccable. This facility falls short of anything that I would even describe as respectable. If my dogs needed care and the veterinary office was out of business, I would not even allow them to see my dog. WE AS HEALTHCARE WORKERS WORK FOR THE PEOPLE AND SHOULD ALWAYS KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN WE ARE SEEING EACH PATIENT. more

Good: I can't believe I've seen such bad reviews. I've at CWC since 07 and I always had great experiences. ALL the doctors are great. Dr. Laurin delivered my daughter in 08 and all my appointments went as scheduled and they stayed around to ask questions. I LOVE the germantown office the most tho ALL the staff is great there. Bad: I would improve the patient service at the front desk of the Rockville Location. Improvements: Nothing they all do a great job. Good: I WAS A PATIENT THERE FOR 12 1/2 YEARS MY SON WAS BORN AT THE HOSPITAL WITH A NURSE PRACTIONER WHEN THEY WERE ALLOWED TO DELIVER THEM, WHICH WAS GREAT, SINCE THEN I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL DRS. COME AND GO I HAVE TO SAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE DR WHO DELIVERED MY 2ND CHILD DR. GERBER. WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN MY FAVORITE HE WOULD TRY TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOU AND DR. LAUREN IS VERY KIND AND SWEET WHEN I LOST A BABY SHE WAS THERE TO HOLD MY HAND SHE WAS VERY CARING, SO IT WAS NOT ALL BAD.. Bad: I HAVE SEEN ALOT OF DRS, COME AND GO AND THE STAFF OR TAKING AFTER SOME OF THE DRS COLD AND IMPOLITE, THE TECH WHO DOES THE SONOGRAMS IS COLD AS ICE I HAVE NEVER SEEN A DAMN SMILE OR HEARD A KIND WORD, WE ARE WHAT GIVE THESE PEOPLE FOOD ON THE TABLE AND THE BMW/ MERCEDES THEY DRIVE YOU WOULD THINK THEY THEY WOULD TREAT US BETTER THAN GIVING US 5 MINUTES OF THERE TIME AND TREATING US LIKE CATTLE. Not impressed at all. A few doctors were nice and professional, while others made me feel like they don't care much about my concerns. The stuff was pretty ok except for the ultrasound tech. She seems cold and kinda rude. not happy more

im not impressed, but we were waiting forever for an appointment, they do an okay sonigraph but i dont have anything to compare it agianst, but overall it is a professional atmosphere, i didnt have a big problem, and they gave me the feeling that they didnt really care that much, on the other hand, i go the prescription that i needed right away, but then again i had to come back for another visit when i wanted to get it refilled, the office is nice becuase they offer magazines, many of which you can take away for free. more

I came to this practice to have my first child. I experienced all of the doctors. Some of them are really great, others not so great. Dr. Lakner: Wonderful, intelligent, doesn't give you very much time, but good bedside manner Dr. Gerber: Very kind, gentle, and nice. Dr. Laurin: Also gentle, kind, friendly Dr. Friedman: Terrible. Hurt me very bad when roughly giving pelvic exam Dr. Grossman: Cold bedside manner, but seems intelligent. Dr. Lee: Seems intelligent, but not very friendly more
