Neuse River Trail 2/9/2013

We are newcomers to biking the Greenway Trails and this one is excellent ,smooth pavement with no obnoxious treatment plant odor like the first trail we took. You cannot rely on your GPS to find the parking lots listed on the large trail map so this may be an obstacle to newcomers and visitors to Raleigh . Even tough for native residents at first ! I would like to see a Parks booklet produced ,showing trailhead locations by mini map inserts to save time locating them. eg Morganton NC 's Greenway parking locations is very clear .Their Greenway is short but beautiful running parallel to the Catawba River. I would not recommend the Crabtree trail, broken pavement , insect hatches and dark areas under Glenwood a security concern. Len Hambleton-Raleigh NC more

Get Outside! 1/22/2006

The greenway is a great way to spend the afternoon. The greenway goes literally all over town, you can travel through town and through the woods by bike, rollerblades or by foot. You can see lakes, creeks and everything in between while travelling on the well parked paved trail. I love the greenway, it is a great way to have an organized trip through nature. more

Large trail around Raleigh 7/14/2005

The Capital Area Greenway is a paved path that runs all throughout Raleigh, although it is not all interconnected at this point. Most of the paths start in local parks and go to at least one other park area. It is wide enough for bicycles, walkers, joggers and families out for a stroll. The paths go through some beautiful areas of Raleigh and are populated enough to feel safe but not overcrowded. Some areas have marked paths to walk off trail and do a little hiking. The entire trail is well marked and there are trash cans and benches along the side of the path. more
