I took one of my dogs there for his shots. I had a couple of questions about the vaccine/affects. Was charged EXTRA for consultation!! Never again.

I have been taking out pets to Capeside for 5 yrs and have always been impressed with the vets and the staff. The docs always follow up when there is a problem.\r Our 12 yr old dog required surgery for a tumor in her mouth. It was the 2nd time in 2 yrs. We consider that time a gift and hope that this one will be the same. \r Dr. Moore was wonderful! She explained what she needed to do in simple terms and is enthusiastic about the outcome. She calls to explain the situation and the staff, or the doc have always followed up. We have seen all of the docs there and the same was true across the board.\r I recommend this practice highly. They care about the pets and the owners! more

do not go here 11/6/2012

I came to this vet for dr. Moore. Dr. Moore is a great vet the problem is that the staff is awful the prices are so high! If you call the vet there is NO communication ! The staff has no clue what is going on ! They have messed up sp many appointments for us we show up to see dr Moore and she's not there after I confirmed my appointment was there with dr.Moore ! The office staff and techs have messed up so much that I have had to leave this office! Do not go here unless ur ready to pay a lot of money and have poor care!!!!! more

I have been going to Capeside for years and must completley disagree with your "interpretations" related to standard mark ups for products and services provided in a medical practice. The hospital is a high quality practice that does a very good job medically. In my experience using different Veterinarians and Veterinary Board Certified Specialists the fees they charge are market. I have a cousin that owns a large hospital in California and have first hand knowledge on average hospital profitability. You may find it interesting that most Animal Hospital owners have profit margins of less than 10%! During various visits for family events at my cousins home I have read Vet Economics and other journals to kill some down time including lots of conversations with him about the economics of the profession. The educational level of Vets is 7 to 8 years and they are always selected based incredible intelligence that most of us would be happy to be blessed with. The amount of staff overhead, me more

Over Charging Concerned Pet Owners 11/8/2011

Way Over Charging for tests! $151 blood test here cost $90 at other vets. Tick test here $189 other vets $44. Staff completely unwilling to work with you on billing issues. Suspected they might be over charging me, but staff refused to issue an itemized bill of charges. Guess I was right! If you thinking of going to this vet, prepare to pay, a lot! Pros: null Cons: null more

Super Over Charge for tests! They will up-sale you for everything.\r \r Re: to above: I would be good with mark-up, but when an itemized bill is requested and they refuse, something is wrong. Plus, you really just sound like a person that works for this hospital. more

Go elsewhere!!!! 10/24/2011

Very very dissatisfied with the office manager and the handling of an overcharge. She was wasn't helpful, nor was she apologetic. I spent a lof of money at this vet and will not be returning. more

Awesome Animal Hospital 3/28/2011

We bring our dog Bandit to Capeside. We had to bring him in very late one night and were not turned away. We were there long after normal hours. The staff and doctors are awesome. Very caring - true pet lovers. From the front desk associates to the technicians and doctors, very dependable and caring and willing to take the necessary time to discuss problems and possible solutions. more

Fantastic Care 3/23/2011

Have been using Capeside for two years now and could not be happier. Last week we had plans to go to the Bahamas and were taking Bindi to Pups Play and Stay and were then heading to Raleigh for our flight. Well, when Bindi got in the car we noticed she had this big ugly red welt on her face and it was all swollen. We stopped at the vet and they took us immediately after I explained the situation. They gave her some shots and meds and she is fine now. They called Pups Play and Stay to see how she was doing and were on top of the situation. If they had not taken her immediately that would of been the end of our vacation. Everyone was fantastic - from the girl at the front desk to Dr. Moore who came out and explained what was going on - they dropped everything in order to accommodate us. I am a member of Furever Friends but I just joined recently because a friend had told me about the dedication that Dr. Hanby has for these rescues. She became a vet for the right reasons - she LO more

"The Best Vet Care!!!" 2/2/2011

Capeside Animal Hospital is the one of the best animal hospitals that I have encountered in all my years of taking a large number of family pets in my lifetime, both young and senior dogs.\r The staff and the doctors are of the highest quality, in their expertise in animal care. The staff and doctors are compassionate, supportive and extend themselves because they realize how important our pets are to us and our families. \r In opinion, they are "The Best" is what they do and how they do it!!!! more

OUTSTANDING VETS AND CARE AT CAPESIDE ANIMAL HOSPITAL 1/28/2011

I have taken all of my dogs to Dr. Sheila Hanby, Dr. Danielle Moore, Dr. Colleen Peat and Dr. Dawn Gleason for the past 4 years. The total number of dogs I have is 6, all rescues. Three have passed, and I still have the remaining 3. I can say without any hesitation or doubt in my mind that the care they have received was excellent. I can also say that all of their staff is the same, the receptionist, vet tech's and office manager are very dedicated in their work. They are all professional, caring, knowledgeable, and have gone the extra mile with all of my dogs through some rough times when they were very ill. \r One of my senior dogs, Katie that I adopted when she was 9 years old had multiple organ failure. Dr. Hanby was able to keep her going in a good quality of life for an additional 5 months. She died when she was 12 years old.\r One other dog that I adopted, Lady Jane Grey when she was 6 years old, a puppy mill survivor who developed some breathing problems after I had her for only more

Awesome Animal Hospital 1/26/2011

We bring our cat to Capeside. It is one of the best animal hospitals we have ever used. The doctors and staff are the best - thorough and caring. We also felt that the prices were very competitive. We recommend Capeside to all our friends and neighbors and would not trust our pets to anyone else! more

A major mistake 12/11/2010

We brought Lexie in on Tuesday for blood tests to get her ready to have a tooth pulled. On Wednesdy she had the surgery where they pulled 10 teeth. They sent her home even though she could not even walk. After being up with her all night as she cried and deficated on herself we let them know how unhappy we were. They took her back to watch over her. Suddenly she has taken a turn for the worst and they found a mass on her liver. Now this dog was functioning just fine at home. Now I am heartbroken as I could be facing having her put asleep. Something happened to her there but I will never know the truth. I am just very sorry I didn't stay with my original vet. I feel like Lexie was given a fate she didn't deserve I will have to live with my decision to go there a long long time. more

Pleasant staff, but not very dependable 3/23/2009

My dog was scheduled for minor surgery at 7:45 AM. At 2:00 PM I was called and told that there had been an emergency that just came in, and would I mind if my dog received his surgery the next day! I asked what was going on all day long, if the emergency just came in at 2, and my dog was still not seen. He was hungry and thirsty for 18 hours, kenneled for nothing for half a day. I immediately picked my dog up and found a new vet. Although this office appears to be efficient, it is not. No one schedules surgery in the morning and lets their patient sit for six hours before attending to them. Don't trust your animals to this doc!! more

Is Caring and Nice 1/6/2009

I use Capeside Animal Hospital as our vet for our cat and dog and I also use them as a Kennel when we go out of town.\r My animals were both spayed there with great results and no problems.\r The staff is friendly and accommodating. We have boarded Lucy (our dog) twice. Last year for 7 days and recently for 5 days while we were out of town. They treated her very kindly and she is happy to arrive and greet the staff. \r \r The price is also very competitive. more
