Honestly, I can't understand the raves. Had their ice cream several times, and it's average at best. The Oberweis in downtown Mt Prospect is better.

Worth the trip 8/12/2005

I make the drive to Capannari's from South Bend IN. three times each summer and fill my cooler with Capannari 's Ice Cream. I have never been a real ""chocolate"" or ""black raspberry"" fan but Capannari combines the best chocolate with black raspberry and the BR chip is awesome! Try the BRC ice cream bars, they are too die for! Coconut chip is phenomenal. Next time you go - pack your cooler with dry ice from Packeys on Oakton and head to Capannari's and fill-up. I fill mine with ice cream bars, pints of BRC and CoCo Chip, Mint Choc Chip, butter pecan and of course Choc and Vanilla - don't forget the ice cream cakes - you won't be sorry. Love the store - love the people - just wish they had a store in South Bend! Pros: Inexpensive, great variety, great quality more

Fantastic!!! 11/10/2004

This is the best ice cream you will ever find. I used to work at an ice cream store with ""many flavors"" and I must say that they have nothing on Capannari's!!! The chocolate and peanut butter is my favorite flavor. The fact that it is family owned and very family oriented just makes is that much more of an enjoyable experience. I have told everyone I know about it and they all agree with me, there is no better ice cream, and let me tell you, I am an ice cream nut & have tried everything out there and I will never go anywhere else. Thanks Capannari's! more

Building Summer Memories 5/23/2004

We travel from Gurnee at least 5 times every summer to hang out at Capannari's. My kids look forward to sitting on blankets in the beautiful park to watch night-time movies against the side our their Turn of the Century Ice Cream Store. The ice cream is the best I've ever had, but the event of going there with the family is something my kids will always remember as a part of their growing up in the summers of Chicago. Capannaris has the best ice cream I have ever had. Their selections of flavors beats all the rest. I have tried many of them, from the vanilla and chocolate to the peach to the Irish Creme. When someone asks me what is my favorite flavor, I honestly reply--all of them. While enjoying my ice cream I truly enjoy walking around the outdoor gardens. If you want to taste ice cream that tastes EXACTLY like the name it is given (pumpkin, peach, peanut butter, etc.) then this is THE place to eat homemade ice cream. Capannari's Ice Cream is made to absolute perfection, and after eating ice cream from Capannari's, all other ice cream tastes ""production-line-made"". Capannari's is a wonderful treat the likes of which is usually very hard to find in the suburbs. The grounds are fantastic for strolling with a loved one eating your fantastic ice cream. They even show old movies sometimes - way too cool!! more

Capannari Ice Cream may just be the best ice cream ever made. The cute antique little shop houses a wide variety of gourmet ice cream. I couldn't believe it the first time I walked in there. It was the sweetest most refreshing thing ever. The staff and service are equisite and must be top or the line. I don't understand how anyone can pass by and not stop in for a few bites. The flavors are unique from Black Raspberry Chip to Licorice to Jamaican Blue Mountain Java Chip, no one person can resist. It's the best thing ever why don't you give it a try?! more

Siimply put - smoooooth, rich, and creamy. Neat building - historical on the outside, but modern on the inside. Cool programs with movies and ice cream nights. Great family appeal. Will also customize for special orders. more
