My dog died. 8/29/2008

My 2 year old dog had an appearant gunshot wound. 3/4inch in diameter, perfectly round. The vet took 1 x-ray said he couldn't find a bullet and said it could be a puncture wound and sent us home with antibiotics. I wouldn't blame this vet for Max's death if he hadn't insisted there was no reason for another x-ray. I wanted another x-ray but because I couldn't afford to pay him immediately he wouldn't take another. I was a nursing student at the time. The next day when I got home from work Max was in very bad shape but he jumped into the back of the truck and took the 12 mile drive to the vet. We had to carry Max in and he was unconscious. This same vet says he's in shock, tries to give him an injection ,but couldn't because Max was dehydrated. Ten minutes Max is dead. The vet asks me if my dog had been having loose stools because loose stools came out of his rectum after he was dead. I was in shock myself and answered, ""No he hadn't eaten in almost 2 days."" I wouldn't blame this vet for Max's death if he hadn't insisted there was no reason for another x-ray. Another thing about this vet. He asked what I wanted to do with the body. He said there was a special area at the city dump where they bury all the animals. I have since found out that wasn't true either. Pets are dumped like so much garbage. I can't help believe that if I had a Visa or Mastercard My Max wouldn't have died like that. This happened a few years ago but what I hear it's pretty much the same. more

We've been using Canyon Crossroads for veterinary services for our Australian Shepherd and two cats for 21/2 years plus boarding our cats when we travel. Canyon Crossroads is a wonderful facility, the staff is very friendly, everyone is extremely caring for animals. Couldn't imagine a better place to have for veterinary and boarding services. more
