Recommended by our hotel concierge this "gourmet" Mexican restaurant fell short of the gourmet experience. Overall, I found that this chain Mexican restaurant to be over rated. While the food was not bad it certainly would only qualify as a rating of fair, which is what causes me to laugh at its gourmet title. Portions were small and taste of food was of average quality. If you're lookin for average mexican food with a high title of "unique'" this is the place for you. more

Waited 45 minuets for our food, just ridiculous. This is after waiting 1hr for a table, when the hostess told us it would be 25min. Manager comped the mean but it wasent worth my time to saay and eat it. The point wasn't to get a free meal I would gladly paid double for any service at all. more

I ate here for lunch. The food was good. Little pricey but not too bad. Service was decent and the atmosphere was a tiny bit tacky. But hey, it's Hallandale.\r \r I had the cheese enchilada but be warned vegetarians, I think the sauce had meat in it. I was told "mole doesn't have meat in it" and I know this, but, I'm saying there was ground something in it. NBDJS. more

Cantina Laredo is a franchise operation with more than 20 restaurants around the country, most are company owned with a few independent operators here and there.\r \r Don't expect a lot of authentic, down home or creative Mex or Tex-Mex originality in the food. The recipes are all designed at headquarters in Dallas and each store 'followers' the rules and uses the supplied 'spice pacs' with which to season. In one way, this is a positive, at least you can bet the roasted tomatoes and tomatillo salsa will always taste the same (actually quite tasty). Their 'signature ' handmade guacamole, which is generally pretty good stuff, does allow for a bite of customization on the part of the customer....'add a little more of this and not so much of that.'\r \r Margaritas are pretty much run of the mill - mass mixed in five gallon containers. although fresh (as opposed to concentrated) lime juice is the base of the concoction. Depending on who is mixing the batch, the tequila is sometimes added with a light touch....be prepared to ask for a side shot to boost the burn. Better to spend the extra money and have the bar man or bar maid mix a custom 'Rita' and have it done the way you want it\r \r So, don't set your goals too high when visiting the Cantina Laredo location in Gulfstream and you won't be disappointed.\r \r Even though the food and drinks are slightly above average, the management is top shelf and the staff is always friendly....and the bar scene during Happy Hour can be busy and fun! more

Very different, spin on Mexican- American. It's not authentic Mexican like I expected, little on the bland side, but over all it was good. Beautiful atmosphere! more

The only thing good about this restaurant is their guacamole, me and my husband have been to the their davie location and liked it well enough to go to the hollwood location. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted a birthday cake to be brought to the table. I went up to a waiter and said for him to tell Mike (our waiter) to bring a birthday cake to my husband. I pointed my husband out to him and he confirmed my husband was 'the one with the goatee?' I said yes then I went back to the table, I went back to dinner and they NEVER brought his birthday cake! I was so ANGRY! more

food was good, but i asked for fresh pepper and the bartender said they didnt have any. he also didnt inform me of the happy hour menu even thou i arrived at 630. the women next to me said her chicken was dry and the black beans were all sauce and no beans. my salad was supposed to have goat cheese and there was none. i hope they hire better bartenders because the place is beautiful and the margaritas are great. more

I had the best dessert I have ever had in my life here, and I am shocked it didn't have any chocolate (although it was available) :-O . It was the apple pie on a sizzling plate with cinnamon ice cream topped with brandy butter. I do not even like apple pie or cinnamon and my mouth waters thinking about it. Oh yes the food... the food is good. more
