Canobie Lake Park

Canobie Lake Park has it all! Great rides, games and shows for people of any age, young old, teenagers and everything in between. It is always clean and the prices are fair. I would recommend Canobie to anyone and everyone! I go at least once every year. more

There's some things you should know about Canobie Lake park. Since I live about 40 minutes away I want to save out of towners some money and disappointment. Without a doubt, Canobie is one of the worst attractions I've been to. The park is small and has some local charm but in terms of business they are awful. One of the reasons you might choose Canobie over a Six Flags is it's a smaller park, shorter lines, easier to navigate and enjoy, right? Wrong. We were there today. Although the parking lot was full we figured it wouldn't be too bad. From the gate entrance you can get no sense of how crowded it is. Deceptively, school buses drop off loads of groups and leave so the full parking lot only partly describes the mob scene inside. Once we passed through the gates and walked about 50 yards we found out just how crowded it was. Lines of 100 people or more at the bumper cars. The water park had a line in the hundreds and that's not counting the full capacity inside the water park - the hundreds waiting have to stand there until someone leaves the water park area to gain admission. Every inch of this park was teeming with people. We decided we'd go back to the gate and explain we'd only been in the park 15 minutes but we'd like a rain check to come back. We were declined. I called and spoke with Tracy, a manager and she reiterated the policy of no refunds or rainchecks. In normal circumstances, I understand the policy but even the manager acknowledged the unusual volume and bus loads of guests who arrived today. She admitted the park was unusually crowded but said she has no control over that. However, they do have control over it. They could set capacity guidelines. You could notify entrants of how full the park is before they enter. It's irresponsible and dangerous to fill the park beyond a manageable number of guests. Once you pass the gates you are in and there is no recourse. I paid for 3 tickets to enjoy the day. We were there for 15 minutes. We were basically robbed. 3 haunted houses crammed into one warehouse.. It has the potential to be scary.. but the lines are so bad you are all being pushed through this maze of "horror" but its hard to be scared when your in line with thousands. For the price the rides and spooky was not bad.. wouldnt recommend for scaryness more

Canobie Lake park is a terrific place to take the family on a summer day. It is an old park..but they are constantly added new attractions and rides. It is extremely well kept. Has lots of shade trees and benches. The rides vary from kiddie rides to teeny bopper rides to rides for the daring. They have daily shows with entertainers like clowns or a western show. Some years they have an Elvis impersonator who is very good. Lots of places to get food too! more

Canobie Lake Park has been a staple in the Mass-NH area for decades, growing from a small amusement park with a tiny midway to a major amusement and water park with all kinds of entertainment draws. The park itself still has its own staples, the roller-coater and the sky ride among others. The addition of water rides was brilliant, because now you can enjoy a lot of different activities without having to go to separate venues. No matter how big it gets, it still has that New England feel to it. Canobie Lake is still a great place for the whole family. more

This is a great option for people who don't want to travel too far. It does have the element of being a poor man's disney, the park is not always the cleanest and it's a little shabbier but they've done alot to improve it over the last few years. There are some well done newer rides and soem classic ones that are still enjoyable including their ferris wheel, haunted house, and others. Parking is free and very convenient. Canobie Lake Park offers more than just traditonal rides. There is also a water park area within the confines of the park. Don't bother going to the larger, more well known parks because it is not worth your time or money. Canobie Lake is cheaper than 6 Flags, with most of the rides being just as good. This is the perfect park to take children up to the age of 17 or so. THe park is located on a lake so for most of the day you get a nice breeze. One thing that I love about this park is that there are benches for the parents to sit everywhere throughout the park. Not only are the benches clean, the majority of them are located in the shade. The best part is that most lines for the rides are under 10 minutes. you can''t beat that! Food prices are very reasonable for an amusement park. Discount coupons available all over. Canobie has really grown in the last few years. They have plenty for the whole family to do. The new water rides are so much fun. Both of my children love it there. more

Stop number 2 on a mid-June coaster tour took me into New Hampshire, where I joined newlyweds Robb and Sarah Alvey on a trip to Canobie Lake Park. Canobie is a very nice traditional amusement park, in a very beautiful section of the country -- shade trees everywhere (although we really didn't need them anyway). Upon entering, we noticed quite a few school buses in the parking lot. Yes, it was the middle of June, and that means school picnic time. From the time we arrived (roughly noon), until 3 or 4 pm, there was a healthy crowd of (well-behaved) school aged kids throughout the park. However, after the aforementioned time, the park seemed to instantly empty out, as all the school groups decided to leave at the same time. The employees at Canobie Lake, EVERY SINGLE ONE we came in contact with, were VERY nice, courteous, and were genuinely concerned in making sure we would have a good time. In fact, once word apparently got around that "roller coaster enthusiasts in patch jackets" were in the park, we were treated almost like royalty. An example -- Robb and I made a trip outside the park, into the employees parking lot to get some pictures of the roller coaster. The security guard questioned us, but had no problem letting us into the parking lot after we explained what we were doing. Robb needed another roll of film, or new batteries, or something for his camera, which was back at the car. The security guard then took Robb back to the car in his golf cart, to retrieve said camera accessory, and brought him back to the coaster! That's not something you'll see at many amusement parks! All of the rides at Canobie are well maintained. Among other rides, they have got a pretty good dark ride, themed as a haunted mine, the typical assortment of whirl and hurls (Tilt-a-whirl, Roundup, etc.), and (IMHO) the best darn Matterhorn ride on the planet! more

I like Canobie Lake Park for a couple of significant reasons. One is that it is small, and "doable" in one day. It is not overwhelming, but has enough rides to keep everyone in the family happy. There are usually minimal lines, except for some of the more popular rides. However, anyone who's been to either of the Disney parks could attest to the fact that these lines are not long! This is one of the cleanest parks I have ever been to. I am really impressed with that! Makes me much happier as a mom to bring my children here. Canobie Lake also tries to add a new ride to the park every year or two. I think that is pretty impressive as well. more

This theme park looks as though it hasn't been updated in decades. The rides and activities are few and far between. The roller coaster is wooden and rickety. They lack some of the more modern rides and entertainment that would make the price worth paying. Most of the day is spent waiting in long lines for a ride that isn't necessarily worth the wait. I say pass on this theme park unless you don't have to pay a dime to go, and you want to wait in lines all day. more

Canobie Lake Park is probably best left as a place for summer corporate outings and not much else. There is not a huge variety in terms of rides and everything has a long line. The most exciting attraction there is the bridge where you can watch the log flume ride splash down and soak everyone in the immediate region. For an admission price of $26 adult there is not a lot to do and you'll spend most of the day waiting in line. If for some reason you get to go for free (job outing, etc), go for it. You're not out any money if you do it that way. The price is in line with other theme parks like it, but there are not as many attractions there. more

Travel a bit north just 35 minutes from Medford and you will have a great day at Canobie Lake Park. Ride all day for one price. Plenty of free parking. Games for kids to play. In ground swimming pool plenty of water rides. Take in a daily show of magic, music or dance. Plenty of food courts throughout the park. Special kiddies section of rides just for the little ones. Lots of clean bathrooms throughout the park. Plenty of shop for buying gifts to take home.Ride one of the oldest wooden roller coasters around. Or take a ride on the ferry boat and see the other side of the park. Plenty of room for the kids to run around and have a fun. Fun and excitement is just a short card ride away. more
