Editorial review from Citysearch 2/21/2014

NEVER AGAIN. We've used canine country club a number of times without problem but this time our 10 year old Golden Retriever contracted kennel cough (yes he's had the vaccine) and when i called canine country club to notify them of how sick he was and the huge vet bill I now have, they didn't say they were sorry to hear about how sick he was --just ""ill notify the manager"". I at the least expected a phone call back from said manager and never got one. BEWARE. Despite having the vaccination for this disease, we have encountered huge vet bills with antibiotics plus follow up visits to come and our poor dog is so so sick. Unsure yet about our 2nd dog as she has been sleeping non-stop since we got her home but hasn't had any coughing. Having to keep them quarantined from each other. I realize it's a very contagious disease but they showed their lack of caring about our pets by not calling me back and by the lack of care shown when I called. If they treat US like this, how do they treat our pets when we aren't there??? more

Worth the Distance and Wonderful Staff & Facility! 12/15/2010

On a friends recommendation, we drove 60 miles to leave our two pets; one of which has health issues and medications. Canine Country Club In Lancaster took such good care of our pets that our old lab was in better shape than when we dropped him off. You can tell when you walk in the door this place is different and I mean that, in the best way possible. I just got on here to leave a few reviews for a couple places I really have been impressed with. I was surprised to read the previous negative review and question it's over all validity. At the end they say, ""The staff at the club are always very nice and caring with our dog,"" then where are the revues for all the good experiences previously? Maybe it's just easier to be motivated when you are frustrated then pleased, for some people. I know we didn't get special treatment but the staff at Canine Country Club made us feel that our pets are special. We already have our reservations in for New Years! and lastly, The Lakers Rule! more

Not Very Pleased 8/31/2010

We've used Canine Country Club several times with no issues. However, when we picked up our dog from them yesterday after a 3 day stay, we found food for other dogs mixed in with him. We specified when we dropped him off that he is on a special diet, but they couldn't tell us if they had fed him other kinds of dog food.\r We also left a small bed with him and when we got home yesterday we realized that there were several urine stains on the bottom of the bed. It looked like he had urinated in his area and they just put the bed on top of the urine instead of cleaning it up. There was no urine on the top or sides of the bed. They said that he just might have moved it himself, but they were very distinct round spots, and if he had moved it the spots would be smeared. I don't think that they cleaned his area and just used his bed to soak up the urine.\r Also, normally when we pick him up he's playful and happy. This time he was timid, scared of the staff and scared of me or my husband touching him. When I gave him a bath, which is normally a great time for him, he just laid in the water and wouldn't move. He's acting very out of character.\r The staff at the club are always very nice and caring with our dog, but this time I think he had a bad experience which is disheartening. more

Best Kennel Around 5/13/2010

I've been going to the kennel for a least a decade, and have always been amazed at how caring and accommodating the owners and staff are. I've boarded my cats there, and have had my dogs trained there. I've had only excellent experiences with Canine Country Club. Pros: Caring staff, clean facilities, many services offered. more

Wonderful and caring 5/11/2010

I recently read the negative review written about the kennel from someone who was upset that theirs dogs developed kennel cough. My dog has gotten kennel cough it is a normal thing I have cats that had respiratory infections its like a common cold for animals. Sounds to me like the person is more upset about paying the vet bill then her animals. \r \r I have been using Canine Country Club for years and have taken all my dogs to be boarded and even my cat to be groomed. I adopted a boxer 3 years ago from the animal shelter and he was absed and is scared of any stranger and I was concerned to leave him at the kennel cause I was not sure he would react to me not being with him. The staff took extra time to let him get to know them and trust them and work with his special needs. I am 100% confident that he is getting the best care there is.\r \r Be grateful that your dogs only contracted kennel cough I have a friend who boarded her dog last year at another facility and while the dog was in their front area he got loose and was hit by a car and killed. I would mych rather pay for the vet then not have a pet.\r \r As far as closing the facility and cleaning it that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Do you close down schools when a child gets sick to clean the whole school, or do you close down your work when an employee gets sick. Of course not becase there is nothing you can do about germs. Canine Country Club is a very clean facility.\r \r I say to anyone who read the negative reponse to disregard that post. Obviously the person is upset but it is no reason to not take your pets to the pest care there is. Kennel cough is a common cold and very treatable just like if you had the flu.\r \r Thanks Canine Country Clb for your wonderful care and concern for the safety of my dog. See ya this summer. Pros: Caring and loving staff more

A Great Place! 5/11/2010

I know this kennel well because many years ago I worked there. I noticed, the negative review and thought it was interesting. Canine Country Club is an honest company and in saying that, I know that they would say there have been cases of kennel cough. Kennel Cough can happen anywhere. Taking your dog for a walk can expose your dog(S). Kennel cough is no different than taking your children to school and not expecting them to be exposed to anything. When I worked at Canine Country Club they highly recommended vaccination but even still vaccinations promise nothing. A lot of times clients were not up to date on vaccinations and then blamed the kennel. People that didn't want to take the time to vaccinate always seem to play the blame game. Canine Country club has been around longer than any other kennel and while other places change owners or close, they are still there. I still board my pets there because of the staff and the honesty. I am going to call the owners and let them know about the last post. Pros: Caring Staff, Safe, Clean Cons: Availability more

Canine Country Club 3/27/2010

We took both of our dogs to them for 4 days March 18-22. When we picked them up, noticed the dogs were coughing. We took them to the Vet, diagnosed with Kennel Cough. Our dog were completely healthy before they went there. Called Canine Country Club to ask about situation, they stated ""Yea, we've had a few cases lately"" \r \r Seems if they knew they had an issue, they should not have been accepting new dogs into the facility until the issue was resolved and the facility completely cleaned. Instead they took in more dogs, exposed them to the illness just to make a buck or two. In the mean time I have two sick pets and have spent $260.00 at the Vet's to get them well.\r \r My animal will never be taken there again and I would caution anyone thinking of taking their animals there. Pros: Nice Facility Cons: No concern for animals health more

Best grooming and boarding kennel 1/24/2006

I signed up to just be able to tell everybody that my experience at Canine Country Club was fantastic. Everybody there was wonderful, they know how to handle the dogs, even the large ones. My Jojo, english mastiff stayed for a couple of days and also groomed. He was so incredibly soft and gorgoes when I picked him up. You could tell that he enjoyed everybody there also. This will be the only place I take him to ever again for both boarding and grooming. I know that they also do training and I have heard that they are great in that area also. A+++++++ for Canine Country Club!!!!!! Pros: great staff, big indoor & outdoor, wonderful grooming more
