Upon arrival at a campground, during a hard stop, the brake pedal of our RV went to the floor. I am disabled, therefore retired. I have worked with electromechanical devices my entire working career utilizing a bona fide mech eng degree from CSU. Have always maintained personal vehicles, plus some. Little experience with master cylinders, because they are not prone to failure (good thing, eh). Surveying the engine compartment of the RV, I viewed power steering fluid lines attached to a unit where the the usual vacuum power assist is accustomed to being seen. Not ever having worked on an RV, with no references available, minimal tooling, lacking confidence, with four children aboard our RV, we decided to seek Professional Assistance. I did check for brake fluid leaks and found none along with a firm pedal with engine off. Again, relying on the uncertainty principal, we called Camper Care (CC), discussed their capability, probable repairs, pricing and sent the children home else ways.
We took our RV to Camper Care. We were told the next day that we needed a master cylinder at $325 total. We were called again a day later and told of a price increase , CC ordered wrong part. We picked up the RV and price increased again to $489. We argued for a reduced cost to no avail. Got into RV, brake Pedal went to floor, CC Repairman was shown this immediately. CC Repairman said that's how it is supposed to work. Owner, Bud angered when we returned to dispute. We acquired second opinion at Valley Ford Truck. BBB rating lowered due to our grievance. Bud patronizing, then lied subsequently after seeing him at RV Show.

The RV was taken to Valley Ford Truck for 2nd opinion and tho they do not bench test mc's they stated reason for excessive pedal travel was due to Hydro-Boost power assist.
BBB complaint filed, Bud would not refund.
I tested the Master Cylinder following SAE J1153 and the master cylinder surpassed all requirements. (See test setup picture)
