Avoid this store if you are not familiar with every price. I was up-dated with the camera price because I checked with my phone 1minute before paying and avoided the over price at the last minute. then I got a good deal on it, but i was not up dated with the memory card prices or the strap cost and I' ve been robbed on those because I didn't check before paying. I had ust asked for what else I needed apart from the camera and I was robbed. Each 8G memory card $49,99, strap $49,99, battery charger with no brand $49,99. When I discovered this at home I was in panic that the camera was a fraud, but it worked. The father was yealling ""its getting dark!"" while i was checking the camera at 2.30 pm. I wish I had read a real review but I must have read one of the faked reviews friends or relatives of the owners put on line. Dar tryes to look honest, helpful and different from his father but is all a MASK, then you relax and he assaults you. more

Nice Selection & Very Organized Photo Store 4/11/2012

The store is a great mom-n-pop, awesome corner spot! This is hands down the best place to buy photography equipment in San Francisco. The salespeople are friendly, very knowledgeable, truly know photography and do not get paid commission so they have your best interest in mind. You will receive the honest truth. I have been talked out of things by the sales people that I was intending to buy simply because the item would not meet my needs. You can touch, feel and try everything in the store. The prices are very fair and most cases even cheaper than other stores (Adorama, BHphoto, Best Buy, Amazon,Costco, Walmart, etc). If you're a novice or a professional photographer Camera Zone is must visit. more

Stay AWAY 2/26/2012

I think the reviews on here that talk about the fantastic service are either written by the owner's family (who all work there), by their friends, or by people who were blindly taken advantage of. If you are from out of the area, they will take FULL advantage of you. They pull out 'price books' to show you what a great deal you are getting. Take out your phone and look at the manufacturer's website and you'll see that the peple here are lying to you. The owner is a fraud and will pull out the brand name item you are shopping for, show it to you, let you take it out of the box, then ring you up and place an item in your bag by a different, nameless company. You pay top dollar for a knock-off that may or may not fit. STAY AWAY. more

Canon 60D it is! Thx for the advice! 11/2/2011

After doing my review research on which camera store I wanted to go to in San Francisco, I decided to give Camera Zone a shot. I popped in yesterday to pick up a new DSLR Canon. I was deciding between the EOS 7D and the EOS 60D. Even though it was 10 min before closing, Dar was in no rush to close. He helped me immediately and was full of information. He was friendly, honest, patient and professional. He got down several cameras for me to test and talked me through the pros and cons of each. In the end I opted for the 60D, a much cheaper buy than the 7D and was pleased that Dar was not motivated to push me into the higher-end model. We then selected a bag and added in another promotional lens and I was done. It took 30 minutes but I walked away feeling like I made a well informed decision. I could not have had this experience online. You can't hold the camera, the spectrum of reviews drive you crazy and often the price differential is not really there. Dar also told me to come back in if I was having any problems or even just to let him know if things were going well. Thanks Camera Zone - I'll be back! BTW: They have everything camera stuff that you need! Trust me. Everything! more

Finally a GREAT Camera Store in the City! 10/23/2011

I wanted to shop locally and Camera Zone was so much cheaper than Fireside Camera & Discount Camera , and the staff was super friendly. Kudos to the Dar who helped me find the new love of my life (Canon EOS 7D w/ Canon 16-35 f/2.8 L). He was patient and knew his stuff. The selection was great, and the prices are low. Very well organized. It was a good experience and conveniently located. You won't be disappointed. more

Great merchant. You guys are awesome. I'm very satisfied. 1/2/2011

Was on Nikon's website and saw the prices and started to check around to see if any local place had the D7000 cheaper and most importantly IN STOCK. I even search on Amazon, Buy, NewEgg, & BhPhoto. Not only were the prices cheaper but products were in stock which suprised me because nobody had the D7000 in stock in the San Francisco Bay Area or online! Every website I visited stated ""back order."" I needed the D7000 NOW. I saved over $70 buying it from Camera Zone than through Nikon or other websites, plus I didn't have to wait for it to be shipped!!! Called in, they reserved a D7000 for me and I was done in less than 5 minutes. Looked around and I was amaze by all the merchandise in stock. Will be coming back to shop more and also let my friends know of this store!!!!! Can't say enough good things...great experience... No problems at all with Camera Zone.... thanks for making my Christmas!! more

Great customer service and honesty 11/5/2010

This store excels in the area where most other camera stores in the area fall short: customer service & honesty. Their prices are fair and if you want or need advice, you can actually get it here, which is something you can't get at a lot of other camera stores in the area. This is why I'd go to a retail store in the first place, instead of ordering online. more

Camera Zone Saved My Trip ... 5/27/2010

This place is awesome. I went in because I stupidly forgot to charge my camera before I came to San Francisco for the day so I thought I might as well just buy a charger while I'm here. Pros: Conveniently Located, Lots of Photography Gear, Priced Right Cons: None that I can think of. more

I?ve been cheated!! 5/26/2010

Last week, while visiting town, I entered the store asking for a Cannon p 90, the owner showed it to me along with different brands and models. One in particular interested me ( my mistake is not knowing to much about gear and prices), a Nikon coolpix L 110. He convinced me it was the best deal. Sadly I?ve end up payin 399, for it. Today while registering the product at Nikon i found out that the price sugested is 249, i feel like an idiot. This is a mistake I will not make twice. Tought you guys should know, Pros: The owner seemed very helpful, now I know why! Cons: I?ve paid 150 bucks more than I?ve should have. more

FRAUDULENT 5/23/2010

I went into the store to look at cameras and lenses. The owner, Andre, looked at my camera and said he, as an authorized Sony retailer, had the correct lens for me. What came in the box was not a Sony lens, which I did not notice at the time. I had been looking at the lenses online, and he gave me the same price that I had seen online, $160. When I took the lens back to my hotel room to inspect it, I realized it was not the Sony lens I had been looking for, but a much less valuable lens selling online for only $99. Strike one. Tourist shops usually mark up prices, so this wasn?t too surprising, but I was irritated. Then the lens wouldn?t attach to my camera. Strike two. Cons: grossly overpriced, shady knock-offs more

Absolute Pleasure Doing Business 10/26/2009

This place is a utopia for anyone interested in photography. It's a nice spacious store with practically anything and everything you could ever dream of related to photography and electronics. I came to this store to buy a bunch of stuff for my wedding gig and was surprised at how accessible the staff was. At the same time, know what you want to buy -- I had a list of all the supplies I needed, so all I had to deliberate on what the quantity of items I wanted to buy. If you don't, you'll be in the store forever, drooling over every item you come across. Pros: helpful staff, authorized dealer, affordable Cons: parking at the meters (not their fault - damn the SF city) more

Candy Store for Photographers 10/24/2009

Camera Zone is my father's mecca. He is obsessed with the store, which is huge and filled with every photo-video-electronic related items you can imagine, and at pretty decent prices. He's like a little boy in a toy store. Pros: Service, Price, & Knowledge!!! more

Overpriced Junk 2/9/2009

I am an amateur photographer, so I came here for advice when purchasing photo equipment. I was looking for a filter and memory card and was sold items that I was told were 'the best' available. I took the people at the store on their word and purchased the recommended items. Pros: None at all Cons: Rude service, bad advice, misrepresentation of products, angry people more
