Terrible Business Owner *Twice* 10/9/2009

I went into this place looking for someone who I would have assumed to be knowledgeable and helpful. BOY WAS I WRONG! Jack is an elitist who thinks anyone who doesn't own a top-of-the-line, $8k camera is not worth talking to. I have a small photography studio and when I mentioned that I had a Nikon D90, he said it was just crap and I why didn't I have a D3. Well, gee Mr. Jerk, maybe I'm just not that fortunate yet. I went in looking for help with an old flash gun and had brought all the parts. After berating me for having such old junk and tossing some of the pieces around like they were diseased, I was furious! I truly don't know how this man has stayed in business!!!! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible!!!! 7 reviews on here and the majority are telling you just how this awful business owner is. Stay Away!!! Pros: Lots of antique cameras Cons: Rude service isnt worth the trip more

classic shop, hobbyists please head to nearest ritz 5/29/2009

I've been reading the negative reviews and thought I'd chime in defense. From my experience, Steve and his wife run a good shop. They can be slow and the hours are not exact, but I've never had a bad experience. I mostly go for his B&W processing, which is one of the last and most affordable places in the city. The store has a good collection of old gear and toy cameras. For Lomos and Holgas, this is the place. Students and film fans will rejoice. I can't vouch for any of the rudeness or ignorance of digital cameras that others have cited, but I can tell you that Steve is not a Nikon/Canon wizard. I would only bring older film stuff here to be checked out. FYI: Digital cameras are worse than computers. If your $300 or less point-and-shoot last two years, then consider it great and buy a new one. Don't take it in for repairs anywhere. The manufacturers will charge just as much or more just to look at it. So in conclusion, this is a good niche shop for fans of classic photography or anyone interested in film. Call ahead as they have odd hours. Pros: Excellent b&w process, toy cameras, vintage gear Cons: slow, Mom & Pop shop more
