Editorial review from Citysearch 5/28/2015

ZERO compassion for animals.\r I have been going to Calusa as well as my mom on and off since they opened and of course we knew what their priorities are; first and foremost money, second how fast they will get the money, and third you?re pet. My mother stopped going because they refused to treat her dog since she didn?t have $600 right then and there in the middle of the night when he had a stroke. They were going to transfer him.\r My dog who had been taken in there a year ago was told that she is over dramatic and nothing is wrong yet I had to pay the $80 visit even thought I did not see a vet.\r Well today, my poor little dachshund rescue lady who I loved more than anything in the world was at the end of her battle with really bad lymphoma (which they failed to find and could have been saved that year ago) \r This morning and from last night she started chronically bleeding, puddles of blood. The most horrific thing I ever had to experience. She had bled out so much I couldn't believe she was still breathing. I called Calusa since it is the closest to my house and another vet recommended I go for the euthanasia since my vet is all the way in west palm and I wanted Lady to not have to go through this much longer.\r Calusa told me ""payment is required upfront"" I begged for some form of payment plan, they said ""you can call the humane society and go up to west palm"" I explained how my dog is bleeding to death with cancer and she won?t make it and I pleaded and pleaded and they flat out said ""sorry we can't adjust payment""\r I get how this is a money making business but how freaking incentive do you have to be to allow an animal go through more pain when you are supposed to be the ones having compassion!!!\r This place has zero compassion! They milk you for money and if you don?t have it then and there they will send you on your way regardless.\r What kind of people runs this place? \r I HIGHLY advise NOT going to this place. It's great that you have money to get the treatment and hear the soothing wind chimes, but who do they have their best interest in? NOT the pet, THE MONEY! Shame on the people that work there that think since you make more than other vet?s that they are more superior. Calusa is nothing more but shameful heartless people and I really pray no one else has to experience what I did the last moments with my dog. The last thing you want is people who say they care about animals treat their lives based on a dollar. more

Dr Krawitz is the Best Vet in South Florida 5/21/2011

I have seen 9 vets in the last 5 years (including Coral Springs Animal Hospital, Weston, Cooper City) and DR. Krawitz at Calusa Veterinary Center in Boca is by far the most caring and most knowledgeable veterinarian I have met. I work in the pet business so most of the time I am educating vets on food and medications and I am surprised at how little they research and how little they know. DR. Krawitz actually taught me a few supplements that I didn't know about for my dog's back which is great!\r Dr. Krawitz has solved my pet's anal gland problem that 4 vets at Coral Springs Animal Hospital could not!! He also discovered my dog had invertebral disc disease which no other vet discovered, they kept saying it was anal glands or luxating patella. \r He has also helped my brother's cat who had every problem you could imagine.\r You can tell he really cares about your pet and he combines both conventional and natural solutions to solve your pet's problems which is important if you don't want yo more

Calusa Veterinary Center is THE BEST HOSPITAL IN SOUTH FLORIDA 9/23/2009

I am new to S. Florida and I was recommended by a staff member who ended up being my new neighbor. I am so glad I found this place. My dog ate a kong toy and was very ill needing surgery. Dr. Krawitz was so fantastic in saving my dogs life, if it wasnt for him my baby would not be here. more

Great Hospital, Great Staff!!! 4/28/2009

The Holistic Center is fantastic! the prices were reasonable, the service was efficient. The staff always put my dogs health before the money in my wallet. The ER staff really saved my dogs life. During the middle of the night my dog ate a toad, the staff was waiting for me at the door and rushed my dog into the back and taken care of very fast. My Holistic doctor was called and came to the ER and stayed with my dog all night. I love Calusa and highly recommend them to anyone. more

Beware 2/25/2009

If you love your pet stay away! The most routine of visits turns into a used-car-salesman slash Vet Doctor pimping unnecessary procedures and additional follow-up visits and tests with the unspoken emphasis of "don't you want whats best for your baby?" Guilt-trip is their specialty and the almighty dollar. I prefer a vet with a genuine concern for my pet and not just my wallet! more

Excellent Veterinary Facility 5/30/2005

The staff are always courteous and friendly. I've had several emergency situations with my dog and any time I called them I was told to get her there as soon as possible. They go out of their way to accommodate their clients. The prices are a little on the high side, but they are definitely worth it. I wouldn't go anyplace else! PROS: Courteous and friendly staff CONS: A little expensive, but worth it more
