I will never go here again!! 1/11/2012

am writing in review of the Newport News office....I was referred to this office by a family member and I wish I had shopped around before making the decision to see any doctor at this practice. First, when I had Pap testing done with abnormal results, it was suggested that I had a colpo done. So they did that, which came back okay but they IMMEDIATELY suggested that I have a LEEP procedure done after I explained to them that ive been through this before and as long as there wasnt any change, I wasnt planning on having anything of that nature done. They received my records from my doctor out of state which showed that there was NO progression of this issue that I was having and how my past doctor monitored me for 3 years. FYI: These conditions does have the ability to revert back to normal. So, over the past year, I felt like the nurses were hounding me to have this procedure and time after time I refused. My husband and I decided to have another baby this year, which we are pregnant now, so that was another main reason I refused to have my cervix scraped away. \r \r This year, Nov 2011 returned to the office for an annual visit and guess what?? The pap came back NORMAL, which I figured it would. Instead of monitoring me, this office wanted to perform a procedure that would affect me heavily in the future. So yes, it does seem as if they are really pushy when it comes for an opportunity to make money and I have made the decision to choose another doctor for the care of my pregnancy. Ive also had issues of being charged for services that were not rendered on two occasions! The only trip I will be making back to the Center for Women's Health will be to pick up my medical records so I can get my prenatal care started in another doctors' office.\r more

AVOID! 9/30/2009

This place was an utter nightmare. I have never in my entire life been so frustrated with medical care. After moving to the area, I selected this clinic for my OB/GYN needs because it was close to work and on my insurance. Mistake! On my first visit, the doctor was incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. She had a second person in the room during the exam and never bothered to introduce them or ask me if I was comfortable with them there. She did not ask me if I had any questions and, when I raised several questions about my reproductive help, she brushed them off. She originally refused my request for a BC prescription, despite having a medical condition requiring said prescription. She then attempted to make me wait a full month for the prescription for no medical reason. When I returned for my shot, I was treated kindly by the nurse, but it was the single positive interaction at the clinic. When it came time to go back for my next shot, they ran me around making an appointment, then required a pregnancy test before giving me the shot. I took it and they STILL refused to give me the shot. They came out into the waiting room and started talking about my medical history and BC choices -- as well as my sexual activity -- in front of other patients and the receptionist. Despite a negative pregnancy test and no sexual activity, they informed me they would not give me the shot for another two weeks. Ridiculous! I called several other doctors in the area and they all informed me this was NOT GP. Lastly, when I found another doctor, they refused to release my medical records without my physical presence in the office; they 'don't fax.' They also refused to fax my medical records to my new doctor or give them to me. They informed me it would be 14 business days before they would mail my records to my new doctor. Their attitude in the phone and in person was profoundly rude. I have never been so disrespected with regards to my reproductive choices. EVER! The doctor had been curt, unprofessional, and unhelpful. The nurse on my second visit was rude, judgmental, and unethical in her interactions. Their medical records keeper presented insane requirements to get the results of one annual exam released to a board certified doctor in the same town! I will be filing a complaint with the state medical board and will not quit until I have my own medical records in my possession. Beware! These people are rude, unprofessional, unethical, and living in the dark ages. Avoid, avoid, avoid! Pros: One nice nurse Cons: HIPAA Violation, Medical Care Refused more
