Caffe Tosca is a romantic Italian bistro serving award-winning regional specialties at affordable prices. 1/20/2009

Located on the picturesque Hingham harbor, Caffe Tosca is a romantic Italian bistro serving award-winning regional specialties at affordable prices. This beautiful glass enclosed space sparkles with its visible wine bins, crisp white tablecloths and rich earth tones. The paper thin flatbread pizzas - grilled over a oak and cherry wood fire with toppings like roasted garlic, yellow tomato, and sweet-smoked mozzarella - are the best I?ve ever had. They are so big, that they arrive on their own portable table. The homemade pastas, served in half or full portions, are simply divine. Try the goat cheese ravioli with sage butter sauce and pistachio; or the orecchiette with shrimp, corn and hot peperoncini. Delectable entrees include the shrimp arrosticini with arugula pesto and wood grilled asparagus; and the seared ?pork steak? with fig & sage polenta. The wine list is top notch and the service is the friendliest you will find anywhere. A visit to the heavenly Caffe Tosca - located in the quaint town of Hingham with its restored 18th-century wood-framed buildings and the original Talbots clothing store - makes the perfect day trip. more

Best little Italian Cafe on South Shore with food and service that make it worth the trip to Hingham Harbor 7/27/2007

If you love great Italian food made with fesh ingredients and reasonably sized portions, a nice glass of wine and served by a friendly and attentive staff, this is the place for you. You feel much more relaxed at this offshoot to the stuffy and overrate restaruant across the street. You are better off taking off the jacket and relaxing at this little slice of heaven. The appetizers and main dishes are just as good as the pizza. Nice mix of all sorts of different flavors that will appeal to nearly everyone. Even from my wife's bland diet, to my exotic spicy side, we are both very happy with range of the menu. They make a great mixed drink, and have a respectable wine list. Please wait for a table outside, because the inside is a little crampt and noisy. Staff is friendly and they pay attention to details. This is rare to find in MA, and even rarer on the South Shore. Really nice romatic place to take a date, or you wife and pretend to be on a date. European feel with excellent food and great prices. Enjoy it, and take your time to really get the feel of the outdoor cafe. Pros: Out door cafe , food is great, staff is friendly and quick Cons: Do not sit inside if you can avoid it more

Great food, great service, great atmosphere 5/9/2007

Cute restaurant- little christmas lights outside on the patio make it a romantic date spot. I went with my boyfriend and we had a perfect evening. I had the yellow tomato pizza with goat feta and purple basil on top-really interesting, so tasty, and enough to take hom. My boyfriend had the beet and gorgonzola salad and the ricotta tortelinis- they make the torts there, very creamy, he loved them. The pastas all come in half or full size orders which I thought was nice. They have a great italian wine list- some cheap, some not so cheap options. We had a peach crostata for desert- warm with vanilla ice cream on top, our server said they make them every day. The whole night was perfect- the food, the service, the atmosphere. And best of all-it's not too expensive. You are getting the food that Tosca makes at the caffe's prices. Pros: Food and atmosphere Cons: Had to wait for a table, it was pretty busy on a Friday night (but we walked around town while waiting so it wasn't bad) more

Never even ate 8/24/2006

Went for a late lunch. The front room/bar area was packed with a bellowing mob of middle-aged guys fresh off a golf tournament. I asked the waitress if we could sit in the empty back room and was told we couldn't because they were setting it for dinner. Huh? the room was empty and all the tables were already set. So we sat at the only available table, which was like being seated on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. After 15 minutes (we timed it) no one on the wait staff had so much as approached our table: no water, coffee, not even a ""I'll be right over."" We got up and left and that's the last time I'll ever see the inside of the place. Pros: I wouldn't know Cons: never even got served more
