Best

A Great place to study, work, and hang out. Make sure to get the Cafe Bianca. Cakes and pastries are elegantly scrumptuous. Pros: Good environment Cons: No parking

Worst

This is one of those cafes where students congregate and TA’s hold office hours. Expensive? Yes. But I’m really not sure why you’d ever want to visit a café? Unless you’re on a co...

used to be a good place to study...til every one else figured that out ^_^ 3/21/2006

Cafe Strata offers really great coffee and pastries. But its more of a location to sit and study and read, rather than a place to sit and eat. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. If you can find a seat inside, they do have outlets to plug in your laptop, but if you get stuck outside and its dark. It's going to be cold and dark...not really great for studying. It can get crowded during peek times of the year: midterm season, finals, etc... more

great for studying 10/8/2005

Caffe Strade is probably THE place to be seen while studying- if that's what you're after. It's conveniently located across the street from Berkeley's Kroeber Hall on the corner of College Ave and Bancroft. I usually only get coffee although they offer espresso drinks. I think what makes this place special is that they open late and it's a great spot to hang out. Last time I went I saw Cal's football coach Jeff Tedford in line ahead of me. If you ever need a place to study, this is it - but get here early, or you'll have to go back to campus! more

Strada 9/17/2005

Cafe Strada is an outdoor cafe that sits on the corner of two big streets. Cafe Strada is always busy, no matter what time of day. It's a nice place to go to grab a coffee and watch people pass by. It's right next to UC Berkeley campus too. Cafe Strada is very popular amongst students. Students love studying here. Don't worry about going to Strada on cold days. They have heat lamps that'll warm you right up. Go to Cafe Strada at least once, and be sure to bring friends. more

a cup of mud 8/18/2005

This is one of those cafes where students congregate and TA’s hold office hours. Expensive? Yes. But I’m really not sure why you’d ever want to visit a café? Unless you’re on a cockroach hunt or have some spare change to treat a bum to a bun. Hmm bad pun, I know. more

good coffee at a good price 8/8/2005

In the Berkeley area, café strada has hands down the best coffee. As to be expected, they have a very wide range of drinks and each one comes very fresh and very fast. Inside seating is a little cramped, but luckily they have a roomy patio that is only filled during exam times. As a local business, strada also caters to those who look down on the annoying influx of large corporate coffee shops from seattle. more

Great Coffee! 8/5/2005

On summer days, chill with an Italian soda; on winter nights, warm from the inside out with white hot chocolate. As for the coffee, here's an excuse to nudge your cultured neighbor for advice. Myself, I inherited a fanaticism for tea. And as for the pastries, I frequent Strada for muffins. I hunt the endangered blackbottom and roam through organic pastures with the cherry oat. more
