This place nailed all the marks! AMAZING! and i will come back for our next girls night out :) 4/21/2008

I recently visited Sevilla with a girlfriend. We had a great time! What a little culinary gem this is in Long Beach. I have been living in Long Beach for about a year now and usually I avoid Pine ave.(It seems kindof trashy at times.) Well I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and livelihood of the place. We showed early so we had some drinks and tapas while we waited for the dinner show doors to open. We were served by Nilton, who was very friendy and personable. The chicken ajillo and sangarita are TO DIE FOR! Pros: great service food and music Cons: the area has lots of transients and bums more

AVOID SEVILLA! KEEP AWAY!!!! 3/26/2008

Stay away from this boot-leg place! (Reading the stupid reviews on this site...makes me think people are paid to write positive reviews) Where should I start? Pros: There is nothing positive about this shady place. Cons: Awful music (amateur dj), bullying bouncers, watered down drinks, barely legal looking crowd more

AVOID SEVILLA! KEEP AWAY!!!! 3/26/2008

Stay away from this boot-leg place! (Reading the stupid reviews on this site...makes me think people are paid to write positive reviews) Where should I start? 1) I paid about $10 bucks for an AMF (Adios Mother Fu----). I've had my share of AMF's in the past and I feel them kicking in when finishing my drink. The drinks at Sevilla are watered-down and they are mostly full of ICE. 2) These bouncers walk around trying to punk people! Can you believe that? 3) The music was HORRIBLE!!!!!! Ahhhh!!! It might have been Sevilla DJ AMATEUR night.. The pre-teen DJ at the local Quinceanera can do a better job. 4) The place is small/over-crowded/ draws a barely legal crowd /and drowns in their fog effect. Oh lets also not forget to mention the wiggas on the stage (who were probably paid to be in that VIP sitting area). I paid 15 bucks to go in..... I can't imagine anyone paying for their boot-leg vip sitting area. I would of rather given my 15 bucks to the bum in santa monica holding the sign (Please Donate Some Money So I Can Get High). 5) Sevilla also has their "hard working" crew at work. You see the janitors cleaning up the dance floor while people dancing. I should of done more research before visiting this place. Reading the other reviews and other sites just comes to demonstrates this place is shady and all gone wrong in many aspects. Pros: There is nothing positive about this shady place. Cons: Awful music (amateur dj), bullying bouncers, watered down drinks, barely legal looking crowd more

Love the food and the services. Great place to hang out. 3/11/2008

I've been searching for a good tapas bar in So Cal. that's comparable to Cafe Ba Ba Reeba and Firefly in Las Vegas and I finally found one. My boyfriend and I went on Thursday for Happy Hour. The decor was very elegant with a touch of fun. My boyfriend is a beer guy so he loaded himself up with different types of Spanish beer and Mexican beer. I ordered the white and red Sangria which tasted delish!! I also ordered the mojitos which was phenomenal!! We also ordered about 8 different types of tapas dishes and the Paella. My boyfriend and I really like what we've ordered. Everything tasted so yummy. My boyfriend really liked the chicken skewer so we ordered another one. The Paella was loaded with several different types perfectly cooked meats and the saffron rice was al-dente. IT WAS GREAT!! Although the minus point is the food tend to be on the salty side. Hey that mean you will need more alcohol to wash it down, which is a plus right? Our waitress was very courteous and friendly. She makes sure we have everything we needed and always ask us how we are doing. There's live music after 8pm monday-thurs. My boyfriend and had a blast at Cafe Sevilla. We will definitely come back but this time we will bring our friends with us. Pros: Friendly staff. Great drinks. more

If planning a big event, do not book it here!!! 12/5/2007

We just had out Christmas get together at Cafe Sevilla in Long Beach. First, it was really hard to come to an agreement with their banquet coordinator. She would say one thing and then change it the next day. After numerous calls and emails we finally came to an agreement. The day of the dinner things didnt run as smooth as we thought. The waiters took FOREVER to serve our drinks. We had paid for tickets to get drinks which were supposed to be good during dinner and after at the club, and at the last minute they said that wasnt how it worked, when the coordinator pushed the idea of thickets for the same reason. We didnt have enough time to use all of our tickets, and after some people bought drinks but they were never brought to them; so the waiters kept that money. We were a big group and we had fun, but not thanks to them. Very dissapointed... Pros: small, but not too crowded Cons: parking, service, more

No place like it 6/22/2007

Reading the negative reviews on this place leave me very confused. I've been to cafe sevilla more than a few times and I am blown away every time by the whole experience. First of all, the place is beautiful. Restaurants are not being built like this. There are so many different things to enjoy depending on what you're in the mood for. There's a bar area with live music if you want tapas and drinks, a restaurant area where you can have the fine dining experience or a night club upstairs if you want the party atmosphere. I know they have dinner shows and salsa nights... it's endless. On each of my visits, the food has been great, I can't complain about the service, and everyone in my party has a great time... so why all the negative press? to see such hatred from some reviews really makes me think there's something personal to it... like a local business on pine losing money perhaps? Pros: beautifuldecor, great food, so much to do Cons: very busy on the weekends more

Avoid the Club, But the Bar is Great! 5/18/2007

I read some of the other reviews and I must agree, the club bites! Avoid it, It takes an hour to get in while fake VIPs get in for free. Price wise it is ridiculous- $20 the time I was there- Anyway, this is not the place to go clubbing in long beach, BUT check out the Bar downstairs. Its free, live Spanish -Gypsy king-esque music, pitchers of delicious Sangria and delicious tapas- I have been to Spain and this is Long Beach so don't expect authenticity, but the food is hella good. I shared some mashed potatoes, chicken croquettes and it was so good. Table reservations are advisable. The best spot is in the front near the band. I love the vibe, its a world of difference from the raunchy people upstairs in the club. The club vs. the bar downstairs= a world of difference! Pros: live music, bar vibe, sangria Cons: lines outside, overflow from the upstairs club, crowded more

Hah! They're pathetic 4/5/2007

Doesn't it seem even more than a coincidence that 5 new positive reviews would all post on the very same day as well? (February 15th, 2006). Hmmm...pathetic! Yet, negative reviews about this dump have been posted beginning in August 2006 and continue to this day. Sevilla's staff started coming on here and posting themselves good reviews when they saw that people were starting to express their true opinions about their pathetic excuse for a ""Spanish"" restaurant, so they're obviously trying to give themselves good reviews to balance their overall rating on here. I mean, who are they kiddin', right? And don't feel to confident Sevilla corporate online snooper!! Those new establishments closing up are paving way to better establishments which will knock you out of Pine by the end of this year! LOL. Oh, and those that got beaten up by security, the firm that they contracted is MIB 220 Inc. located in Riverside, CA, so make sure to lookup their number and let them know that they are employing bullies and beating up innocent citizens ;-) more

Try it for yourself. 4/5/2007

Wow. As someone who has been a patron of Sevilla?s other locations in San Diego and Riverside for ten years, I was pretty shocked to read the most recent reviews of Sevilla?s new location in Long Beach -- all negative. First of all, it seems more than a coincidence that six new, bad reviews would all post on the very same day. It looks like a concerted smear effort that is not very subtle. No one appreciates competition when it takes away their business. One establishment on Pine Avenue has already closed since Sevilla opened there, and I hear another is suffering a loss of business. Maybe Sevilla?s competitors are angry at its success and have orchestrated this smear campaign. In any case, the truth is this: at Sevilla of Long Beach you?ll find good food, excellent customer service, and a lively ambiance. No place is ever perfect and everyone has different tastes in food and music. But any restaurant that actually treated its customers as badly as these people claim Sevilla does would not stay in business very long. Sevilla has been an ongoing success in San Diego for nearly 20 years, and in Riverside for six. Shouldn?t you try it for yourself? Pros: Great service, great food. Cons: None to speak of. more
